Why does every body look at us like we are freaks? I have seen all these questions about Mormonism and this person who has gotten best answers for at least three has been spreading lies about Mormonism. I know there are Mormons on this site who care about their religion being treated this way. On some of these questions you can't learn any truth from the best answers. And if there is a person whose uses the name PAC on here please answer why you seem so hate full to me religion. Same goes with every one who seems to be against us.
I didn't mean "look at us like we are freaks" but "act towards us as if we are freaks"
If you stop knocking on my door when I am hungover in the morning then I will stop hating you. By the way, what's with the secret underwear? You know what I am talking about.
Much of the "hate" stems from the fact that Mormonism strikes most people as a religion based on the words/actions of a con man. You may believe that Joseph Smith saw the words of God on golden plates, but many have a problem believing this based on Smith's history - especially when you consider the fact that Joseph Smith, when asked to verify the translation, suddenly came up with a different translation, claiming that God told him to do it.
I'm not a Mormon but I have family who are and I've been to a Mormon church before, I have no problem with Mormons. I guess everyone acts that way towards y'all because of the rumors behind Ur religion and also because its a "new" religion. People see y'all as Polygamists because of what they have heard. People don't understand that Polygamy is different then Mormonism. You should be proud of what u believe in and don't let others bring u down but u shouldn't judge others for what they believe in or try to push Ur religion onto them.
You are not freaks, nor bad people, you just are NOT Christians. True Christians follow the Bible alone, and Jesus Christ never commanded many of the things that the Mormon Church does, hence not Christians. Mormons I call you because that is what you call yourself. I am not mad or angry and do not say anything UN-respectful about you. I have some Mormon friends.
I have answered a few questions about Mormons myself, trying to clarify or straighted out the opinions of people that don't know anything about your religion.
I think people (none Mormons) are intimidated by the missionary's because they are so friendly and persuasive. Then, people see stuff on talk shows about the "spin offs" of the LDS church that still practice polygamy and that freaks them out. Then, they hear rumors about baptism for the dead and undergarments, and that freaks people out too.
Bottom line is, people by nature, fear what they can't understand, or that that is different from themselves.
Please don't worry about the mean, hurtful comments in here, as A LOT of people just spout off about things they no nothing about, just for the points, or just to be mean.
I went to the LDS church until I was 12...I was never baptized, but the whole rest of my family is Mormon. I guess I just knew it wasn't the right religion for me, but I defend the church when people are blatantly wrong.
:]
You seem like a very nice person, I believe you truly believe your religion. That doesn't make it true however. I know it must feel hurtful when we point out obvious error. But I really do not think harm is meant. I haven?t seen the post you talked about,or any from "PAC" but I have seen many point out the error of Mormonism and Joseph smith.
I apologize for any thing I or any other Christian has said that has caused you pain but truly hope you will allow yourself examine the truth
I was just freaked out when I went to a Mormon 'bible study' where I learned that Jesus and Satan were BROTHERS!?!?! Sorry, anything that contradicts previous Scripture is suspect in my book.
Here's my problems with Mormons. You force your religion on everyone. Don't deny it! You come knocking on doors of people you don't know and have never met before, that is forcing your religion on others.
Your churches have too many stupid rules. I have two Mormon friends. They are not allowed to have caffeine, they cannot wear boxer shorts, and they can't eat at certain restaurants. This may just be this one church, but I have heard of other similar things from other Mormons.
I dont hate mormons or anyone for that matter, but ive always heard that mormons teach that the caucasian race is superior, similar to muslim teachings. Maybe thats just a rumor, but that could be where some hate comes from.
I have a question TO Mormons. Why do you waste your time answering questions that are obviously outlandish, yet skip right over the ones that are genuine? I've had at least four, SERIOUS questions, and only non-Mormons answer. The real deal shy away when hit with serious questions...Why?
I don`t know why people hate us so much it drive me crazy because we hadn`t done anything so they can at least have something to support their lies but it doesnt` matter because we still love all of them.
Because Mormons lie to unsuspecting potential converts about what their religion really teaches. If Mormonism is really correct then why do the missionaries lie about the Mormon view of God and godhood? Why is there a bold-faced lie on the official LDS website, Mormon.org which says about God that "He is all-wise and all-powerful?the ruler of the universe."? (link: http://mormon.org/learn/0,8672,807-1,00.... ) All the Mormons on here insist that Mormon.org and lads.org are the ONLY places to get correct information about Mormonism but yet right there on Mormon.org is A LIE ABOUT MORMON TEACHING. YOu can't say that God is "all-powerful" and "ruler of the universe" if there are other Gods.
So, there are people who know what mormonism is REALLY about who want to warn others so they're not tricked into joining based on a pack of lies. If LDS missionaries would honestly represent the religion and what it really teaches I bet the number of your detractors would shrink greatly. If your official website wasn't full of the same kinds of lies about what mormonism teaches maybe there wouldn't be so many people who find it necessary to post "anti-mormon" websites just to get the truth out.
The facts are simple. The mormon view of God as a being 1) With a beginning, 2) With equals in power and being, 3) Who was once a mere man himself, and 4) Which man can one day become, is not a view shared by most potential converts. But rather than be honest about the mormon view of God and convert those who have no problem with such a view, your organization lies in an attempt to try to gain conversion of people who would not join knowing the truth.
Try spreading the truth about your religion and, wrong as others may think you are, I bet you'll find a lot less people feel obliged to speak out against you. Or, keep lying, and you'll continue to find that those who know the truth will almost always find it necessary to speak up.
If you feel like people look at you like a freak for defending a cult that lies to gain converts then maybe there's still some hope. If you're reading this it's not too late.
