Default My mom says its good Joseph Smith was inspired by god to make the doctrine and covena

She has told me this since I was a little baby, that the community of Christ church (also was named reorganized church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints) that it is God's church, and that when god comes to earth he will visit the temple in independence Missouri...........and that she doesn't feel god in other churches, tells me i need to go to the community of Christ church, or my soul will be lost........I'm confused and scared what should i do? And that the bible is not right, so thank god Joseph smith was inspired by god to have visions from god and to "restore the bible"
yeah she said its not right, that's why the doctrine and covenants was written by Joseph Smith, after smith finding Golden Plates in New York......to restore God's true church on earth
If he thought the bible was right, he obviously wouldn't have made a bunch of prophecies
No, I'm definitely a member (not a attending member) I threw out all the Mormon books, sorry i dint read them anymore
My mom tells me i should quit, she keeps telling me it is gods church! Thank God for joseph smith!!!
im just getting the truth out, im not saying anything bad, not saying i love the book of mormon or joseph smith like you, i am just trying to clarify things and not be confused anymore, i was born into my mom and dad telling me other churches are not of god, they are confused, and there is only 1 true church......the RLDS now community of christ is gods church restored on earth. I am very sorry that i have a open mind, and am willing to listen to people from ALL churches, which is the very reason i am on here asking these things....to get a accurate picture.

He was deceived by the devil. The devil can appear as an angel of light.

You should be discussing this with your family and not on here. You will get many different answers on here.
I am sure if you and your mom talk and you ask her to explain why she feels that way it will be better and you will be less scared.

You are right for asking questions, but know that you will have a long difficult journey ahead of you. Your mother may even insult of you for questioning her, but trust me, you are doing the right thing. You need to consider these things for yourself before you can make the decision about what you decide.

You want to believe what you have Ben told your whole life. That is why they start teaching children about the bible as soon as they can. Do more research on religions and you will learn and be able to make a better decision on your own.

I think your mom is brainwashed. Instead of believing everything she says, do your own research. Find out what you believe. The Bible tells us to "test God", which means that we should test our beliefs to see that God is who he says he is. When you do this, you will find out that he is. Trust me.

She's not right. Joseph Smith isn't very good at prophesying and I know of several that he got wrong just off the top of my head.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22 You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?" (22) If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

You are better off listening to the prophets of the Bible.

Mormon's do not usually disregard the bible. Are you sure your mother said the bible was not right?

You sound more like your are lying.

Either way, she's as correct as all other religious people. She is no more wrong than anyone else.

Until you realize their is no god, it really doesn't matter which faith you want to believe. It is still delusional.

Joseph Smith was an inspired man of God. After he was MURDERED, a group of his followers broke away and formed the RLDS church.

Joseph Smith was inspired by the devil, not God. I pray that you will find a way out of the situation you're in. Try a good bible believing church in your area and seek council. I know they would be glad to talk with you. When you've heard both sides of the story, then you can decide on your own. The fate of your soul is not up to your mother!

Most Christians will start to point out that he lead a very suspect life at this point...

However that only shows that they know nothing about the men who chose the New Testament for them.

Truth is, its all faith, and there is no way to measure it for accuracy, beyond your gut, which usually is established by your parents indoctrinating you.

In (Bible) revelation God himself directs those following false religion to leave it. Respect your Mom in all things except where God directs otherwise.
He may be calling you. Carefully study the bible and God will show you his truth.
As to Joseph Smith, he has been shown to be wrong by many. Look in your history book for Mormon history.

Joseph Smith was a great man. He was very caring and suffered much because of his beliefs. He experienced some things that are unprecedented. I know that he was called of God to restore his church back to the earth.

I was not aware that the Community of Christ used the Doctrine and Covenants- but I guess that would make sense.

You have to decide what teachings are right for you- I think you are probably a troll trying to get people worked up. You can not rely on the testimony of other people, you need to find your own. I will not try to persuade you away from your church, just tell you to believe for yourself. Joseph was inspired to go into the sacred grove that day and pray after reading in James- "if any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God who girth to all men liberally and upbraided not." The first vision was a result of that prayer. I would take his lead and ask God- even Moroni said to do this in the Book of Mormon- Moroni 10:4-5 he says to ask of God, with real intent and Faith and and the Holy ghost will let you know what is right.

If you really are struggling like you say- ask of God in faith he will guide you to where you need to be.

Edit**

He is not LDS/Mormon people- he Claims to be from the Community of Christ- formerly RLDS. Pay attention.

Now that I am reading your additional details, I am doubting that you really are a member of the Community of Christ. First off- if you were you would probably be aware the the D&C is a series of revelation given to Joseph Smith (the LDS version contains some to other prophets as well). The Golden Plates are not a re translation of the Bible- just another testament. Also you would know that there is a re translation of the Bible that is separate from the other works you mentioned. You would know that since the Community of Christ owns the copyright to the Joseph Smith translation of the Bible. I am not sure all of what they Community of Christ teaches, but I am pretty sure that what I just mentioned is the case.

Go back to your bridge troll.

Edit**
If you really want to know- Follow the example of Joseph Smith and ask God, Pray and ask him to show you the right path and He will.

Consider this..... an "angel" named Moroni, remove the i and you have moron. Mormons, remove the middle m and you morons. Good ole Joe really believed the concept that there is one born every minute. My guess is if there was really an afterlife he'd still be giggling hysterically over what he got so many people to believe.
