For every kind of person, be it Jews, Asians, blond es, Americans, the overweight, the wealthy etc., there will be people who discriminate against them. In the vast majority of the cases, these people don't deserve the discrimination in the least. People just are wary of people who are different from them.
people are ignorant and rude. Mormons are usually very good people. They make the world a better place and I, for one, appreciate their impact on society. some people will always attack Christians and Mormons no matter what. I guess they never learned manners.
Going door to door to solicit your religion isn't any better than a telemarketer bugging you on your day off. I don't think anyone discriminates the Mormons as a religion, or people, so much as how they do things. IE: soliciting
people discriminate Mormons for the same reasons they discriminate any other group.
Discrimination is about elevating yourself by (false) comparison to another group rather than through actual accomplishment. In general, a person should be judged as an individual not prejudged based on membership in a particular group
Not all people discriminate against Mormons. I work with one guy who's a Mormon, but he seems like anybody else to me, just has a lot of kids! Only one wife, though, so that's normal.
A lot of it's ignorance, I think, reminds me of racism. Some people prejudge other people just because of skin color or other religion or something else, which is being prejudiced.
As far as standards go, that's subjective, open for argument. Different religions have different standards of what they believe is right, it doesn't 'make' them right, though.
Just treat other people with respect, and don't worry about the ones that don't reciprocate.
I personally have nothing against Mormon people. my problem is that Joesph smith had something like 100 wives. it's a bit of a red flag if you know what i mean. it just sort ta screams CULT. I've never read the book of Mormon and I don't condemn it, but honestly 100 wives reminds me of David Korea.
It's mainly ignorance. Sometimes, we look in the wrong places for information about certain faiths and we let that influence our way of thinking. I did that myself with the Mormon faith many years ago. I had my mind made up that this is the way it is and nobody can tell me different. Then, I took a good hard look at the things I thought and how some had changed over time. So, I asked the Mormons who came to my door one day about their belief system. We had a frank talk and they never once pushed me to join their faith. Actually, they were very open-minded about other belief systems. So, I decided to base my opinion on the manners and attitudes of these two people. I'm sure there are folks out there who give Mormons a bad name and it's hard to shout "Hey, they aren't one of us!" loudly enough for everyone to listen. It's that way with all faiths. Unfortunately, every faith has their share of idiots who make it difficult for the people who are happy to just quietly observe their beliefs.
Well it may not be fair but many people probably look down on Mormons because the official representatives of the cult go around and lie to people, telling them that Mormonism is a Christian, Bible be living religion when they know perfectly well that it is NOT. Jesus warned us that many would come in His name seeking to lead people astray and that they would be very successful at it. Those who heed His warning don't tend to think very highly of people who would do such a thing. To judge all Mormons by what the official representatives of their religion do and say, though, is basically guilt by association.
How can somebody complain about discrimination when they belong to an organization that teaches that black people are cursed by God? Black people can't help being black, but Mormonism is an elective cult. If you don't stand for the things that make people dislike Mormonism, you don't have to stay with it.
