Default Is Mormonism Harder to Believe than Mainstream Christianity?

Or are they both equally difficult to believe. How can so many people believe the stories of Jospeh Smith? How can so many Christians think believing in Mormonism is silly while they consider their own beliefs not equally silly?

The only two things that start wars are religion and politics. So I don't discuss them.

Because archeology agrees with the Bible while the same cannot be said about the Book of Mormon.

Maybe it's because they really don't know what they believe. Regular old Christians that is.

Mormonism is harder to believe only in that its origin is in recent history and easily dismiss able because of written records and because its easier for us to identify with the people involved.

I never understood how any christian can listen to the foundations of the religion from an outsiders viewpoint and then actually criticize Mormons for their beliefs. They both sound crazy to someone who doesn't understand or believe in them. And I am Mormon.

Think about it, a virgin gets seduced by a God that then gets born into himself to save the world. That is less crazy then Mormon beliefs, Lil, Ok then.

Mormons dint believe Joseph Smith is God idiot
If you are going to bash Mormons beliefs maybe you should have a clue what they are.

A person wouldn't hold beliefs that they themselves found to be silly, so your question is kind of silly. Mormons, obviously believe what John Smith said, or they wouldn't be Mormons. I find it very hard to believe, but on the other hand, at least they live their religion 100%! They seem to have a very close knit, family oriented community that is so rare in many other Christian denominations. They're also very socially conscious; their children go on a 2 year missionary trip at the age of 19 and when there are natural disasters, they chip in with physical labor instead of just throwing money and looking away. I couldn't follow them, but I do envy the closeness and devotion that they have.

Mormonism is simple and straightforward. All the pieces fit. I can't say that about many other Christian religions. People that are confused about Mormonism are confused because they take some minor insignificant detail and blow it out of proportion and obsess about it.

It is hard to accept the Truth, Jesus Christ, because He asks us to change.

The problem I have with Mormonism is their second book. The supposed extended teachings of Christ. That book is contradictory to what the Bible teaches. If those two books didn't contradict each other, it wouldn't be so hard to believe.

I do not have problems with Mormons. Most of them that I know are very wonderful people. I just have a hard time accepting their beliefs because some of it has come from a source other than the Bible and is not in agreement with the Bible.

Many people consider the story of Joseph "silly" or "crazy" but they all accept that Paul was blinded by Christ, or that the entire world was covered with water, or many other "silly" and "crazy" things.

I believe they are equally difficult to believe, especially for those on the outside looking in. One only needs to study these faiths before embracing them in order to conclude they are both just as mythical as the other.

I'd say it's harder to believe in Mormonism than mainstream Christianity in a mainstream Christian culture. Habituation leads to normalcy, so it's typical for people to equate uncommon to being something strange.

I went to India a few summers ago where there are some Christians (mostly Catholic) yet are still a small minority. I visited this little village outside Dehli and while I was reading my scriptures a man approached me and asked me if I was a Christian. I told him that I was and he proceeded to say "Us Hindus find it so strange that you eat flesh and drink blood at your churches."

I think this best demonstrates that there likely isn't anything intrinsically strange about the LDS religion (or any religion for that matter) rather the customs of any group of people will be perceived as awkward in environments where such customs are not the norm.
