Mormons are Christians who also believe some sci-fie additions to Christianity, such as: God is a guy from the star system Kolob, and Jesus ministered to the American Indian.

Nothing? Why do Atheists know little of Christianity and then flip out when people know little of Atheism?

Mormons have Magic Underpants. They think that when they die, they will get to be demo-gods of their own planet. They think God physically came and impregnated Mary. And a whole whack of other stuff.
Like Romans living in the US...

here, this is funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7q6brMrFw0E

Mormons are Christians, but they are not traditional Trinidadians so some Christians have a problem with that. There are oneness Pentecostals who are not Trinidadians either ,as well as some other groups. I know many Christians who belong to Trinidadian denominations but personally do not accept the trinity, they just keep quiet.

In a nutshell, Mormons are Christians.

Mormons are a cult that encourage idol worship of men as gods.

Christianity holds that only one man, Jesus Christ, is God.

a christian is someone who has called upon Christ to save their soul & forgive their sins. to be a Christian is to be Christ like. Mormons believe Satan & Christ are brothers. they also believe that the Father had physical sex to have them both & they believe when they die they'll turn into god like beings & have lots of sex on their many celestial planets. also they wear "magic under ware" that can never leave contact with their bodies. also the believe u have to be baptized as someone else (example Abe Lincoln was baptized Mormon, but he didn't have a clue since he'd been dead for many years) they are a religion that looks good from the outside, but then once u get sucked in & begin to see the truth of it (unless u fall for their brainwash in) some try to leave it. also, they believe in many wives for one man. their religion was founded by a child molesting perv.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I assure you that I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior and Redeemer. The same Jesus who died on the cross as told in the new testament. He came to this world to live, teach and be rejected by His own people. After His crucifixion He rose from the grave, resurrected! Triumphant over death so that we to can follow in His footsteps. Through His atoning sacrifice He paid the debt of sin which we all bear, His sacrifice makes it possible for us to over come not just physical death but spiritual death as well. Through His atonement we can be cleansed, made pure and prepare ourselves to return to live with God again. He is the Risen Lord, the Son of God, our only hope.

Mormons ARE Christians. Of course some of our doctrines differ from those in other Christian faiths, but we're still Christians.

Some differences:

We're not Trinitarians, so while we believe God and Christ are one in purpose, we don't believe they're the same being.

We believe there are still prophets today.

We believe that marriage can last forever, not just until death.

We have the Book of Mormon, as well as the Bible (The Bible was written by prophets in Israel who testified of Christ. The BoM was written by prophets in the Americas who testified of Christ. They work together. If you want a copy, go to Mormon.org and request a free one).

...those are the big ones, but again, we're Christians, so we have the same basic Christian beliefs as all Christians. We have more in common than we have differences.

Christians are those who believe in the deity of Jesus Christ..They know He is the Son of God and that one day they will be like Him, with resurrected bodies living in the Kingdom of God, His holy abode.. That Jesus Christ says that there will be NO MARRIAGE IN HEAVEN and that WE SHALL NOT BAPTISE THE DEAD.

Mormons on the other hand, believe they are the only ones to be saved, living their cult with rituals straight out of the beliefs from their founder, Joseph Smith, an occultist and Freemason.

They baptize their dead and promise their followers that God has granted them all a planet of their own, to populate after death. They wear special undergarments that are supposedly sacred ( from Freemasonry beliefs) aren't allowed to drink coffee, believe there are extra tribes apart from the 12 tribes of Israel and that these were granted because of God, but the question remains...which god ?

Obviously not the God of this world, our Creator because in Heaven, the Golden City has four walls facing north, south, east and west and on each of these walls are the names inscribed of the 12 tribes of Israel, an impossible feat if there were indeed 13, for just as there were 12 Apostles so there are 12 tribes for this number is one of God's special numbers.
They believe and practice polo gamy, that is.. more than one wife and in fact can have several wives, sometimes marrying sisters.
They believe that they will become as God when they die, which is unfortunate for them, because God is a jealous God .

They do not believe in the deity of Christ nor do they believe in original sin.

They are known as "Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" but they are not Christians. There are no latter day saints..if there were God would have told us. Their name and purpose is misleading to those who are seeking the truth.
They have different books in their " Bible " which is a typical response seen in cults. The majority of cults have huge heavy bibles with lots of added extras, none of which has been ordained by God Almighty. only by man and his rituals and laws.

Mormons build huge temples with high spires, to try and reach heaven, ( reminds us of the Tower of Babel) yet this destination will be out of reach for nearly all of them because they do not confess Jesus Christ as Lord, which is a requirement for Heaven.

If you want to know the Truth that sets all people free, start reading the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, to get an excellent overview of who Jesus Christ is and what He did for each one of us. Don't be led astray by wolves in sheep's clothing, for their way leads to death.

and so the debate continues. Mormons say they are Christian, Christians say they are not. Your question on what is the difference? few things similar few things different.

Similar

Believe in the bible to be the Word of God.

Values (family especially), mission work

Believe Jesus Atoned for our sins

Believe we will be resurrected when we die

Keep the Sabbath

Much more....

Differences

While they believe the bible to be Word of God, because it was translated by men. The English versions which we can read cannot be fully trusted. This works out well for them because when the bible proves LDS doctrine false they come back and blame it on a translational error.

Mission work: While Christians main focus is to be people to Christ a Mormon missionary's main focus is to bring people to the LDS church. Don''t believe me? Recall the last thing a Mormon missionary said to you. It will go something like this "I believe the the church is true and I challenge you to read the book of Mormon and pray about it with true intent" Would any
Christian missionary ask you to read anything but the bible?

The atonement: LDS believe that Christ atoned for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane. Hey prayed so hard he bled from every pore. They even go as far as giving a biblical reference to this. Luke says "he sweat as if they were great drops of blood." This is very sad because it takes away from what Jesus did on the Cross. He DIED, he had to that was the plan. In the old testament did people take their sheep into a garden and tell them to bleed? NO they sacrificed them just as Jesus had to be the Sacrifice. It was God's plan and this in my opinion is the single biggest difference that separates LDS from being Christian.

They believe in 3 degrees of glory, and even 3 different glories in the highest glory the Celestial Kingdom. They give biblical references to this in 1 Corinthians 15:40. Read the entire chapter and ask yourself what Paul is talking about.

Many more difference but those are some. LDS will give me a thumbs down because they don't like what I said but even they cannot say what I have spoken is false because in those famous words "They know it's true"

Mormonism is not Christian. Mormonism is a cult that rejects the free gift of salvation in Jesus, so Mormonism leads to eternal torment in the lake of fire. Mormonism also rejects the TRUTH that JESUS IS GOD, so Mormonism has a different and fake "god" that cannot save, and a different and fake "Jesus" that is not the TRUE JESUS. Mormonism is idolatry.

And also the truth is that only the BIBLE is the Word of God. The "book of Mormon" is not from God.

The TRUE JESUS loves Mormon people so very much, and wants them ALL saved! So Mormon people need to get away from Mormonism, and instead, believe in the TRUE JESUS for His free gift of salvation! Getting into heaven is truly only by believing in Jesus for His free gift of salvation, without adding ANY of your own works.

JESUS TRULY paid for all our sins with His death on the cross! And then Jesus rose from the dead! Nothing else pays for any of your sins, not works, not good deeds, nothing.

So believe in Jesus for His free gift of salvation RIGHT NOW!

Jesus is God, and Jesus loves you so very much! And the Trinity is true! Jesus is the Messiah!

The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to hell, is by believing in JESUS for His free gift of eternal life in heaven, believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died on the cross for all our sins as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe in Jesus for His free gift of salvation, and you will be in heaven, no matter what! John 3:16, John 6:47!

Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in JESUS for His free gift of salvation! It is impossible to lose or "leave" salvation (John 6:39-40, John 10:28, 1 John 5:13).

Please pray now: "Jesus, I believe that You died on the cross to pay for my sins and that You rose from the dead, and I thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die!

The same difference between the armed forces and the military: nothing.

We Mormons are Christians.

@Krissy The Bible only proves our doctrines are true. Thought I'd clear that up.

"The atonement: LDS believe that Christ atoned for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane. Hey prayed so hard he bled from every pore. They even go as far as giving a biblical reference to this. Luke says "he sweat as if they were great drops of blood." This is very sad because it takes away from what Jesus did on the Cross."

Reread the scriptures. We do not teach that's where the atonement took place. We teach, as does the Bible, the Garden of Gethsemane is where His suffering started.

"It was God's plan and this in my opinion is the single biggest difference that separates LDS from being Christian."

You don't get it, there's nothing that separates us from being Christians. We are Christians whether people want to acknowledge it or not. People like you twist our beliefs just as you've shown.
