Default Are these Mormon beliefs true? If so, does that mean they're not Christians?

Mormons believe that the Bible is wrong.

Mormons believe Jesus visited the Americas even though Christopher Columbus did and Jesus died and ascended in Jerusalem.
Mormons believe all with dark skin are born sinners for the white man was pure and his skin darkened for his sins-hence the reason Columbus found RED Indians.
They believe God was a man from another planet blessed with powers-if this were true, who awarded powers to God and why not pray to the 'Father' of God instead of our God?

They believe you can become a God after death and you are awarded a planet- are WE the only planet in the 'living' Universe or do Aliens have a God as well? If this is true, why do we die at all? Can't we live forever and 'power up' into Gods over time?
They believe Adam,Noah and Moses are Gabriel and Michael in disguise.

They believe in the 3 Heaven theory

1. Celestial Kingdom-you may communicate with God,Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Those that are polygamist priests may become Gods of their own planets. Those normal Mormons/the next sub-level down become Angels. The sub-level after that get to kick-back and relax in God's Kingdom.

2. Terrestrial Kingdom- The 'other' Christians can be here but can only communicate with Jesus and the Holy Spirit-you're not privileged to be with God.

3. Telestial Kingdom- All other religions get to go here after purgatory. Again,3 sub-levels where murderers can join you after time in Hell. The next level up are adulterers and thieves and the top level has other religions. Apparently it's still better than Earth.

Basically, you can become God and God is a wizard with powers awarded by the unknown and all other Christians (and even other religions) don't deserve to be amongst them. Most importantly, it shows they're polytheist.

Who are you to judge? Is that what your sect teaches - judging others?

Many, if not all those, are beliefs of Mormons. Yes, some of those beliefs conflict with Christian scripture, and the rest are unsupported in Christian scripture.

However, the same is true of many beliefs of most other religions that call themselves Christian.

No we don't believe the Bible is wrong. Yes, we believe in the truth. Yes, we're Christians.

i see you subscribe to the philosophies of man, mingled with scripture.

it sounds like you had all the correct information, and came to completely the wrong conclusion.

time to go back to Sunday school son!

First thing I need to mention is that anytime I talk to the group of people we call "Born-Agains" and ask them what is a Christian, they respond simply by saying "Someone who believes in Jesus Christ." However when they find out that I am a Mormon that simple 6 word answer frequently turns into an hour long discussion involving me trying to correct the various misconceptions that professional liars have spread about my faith.

You seem to have gotten your information about my church from the same source that those Protestants that are so antagonistic towards my faith get their information from.

With the amount of topics that you ask about it is virtually impossible (within the space available) to give you a proper answer to all of your questions. You have some scattered bits of truth within your understanding of our beliefs but it would require me to write a novel to try to clarify all of the many misunderstandings that you have. Our missionaries will typically cover all of your questions in a series of 5 or 6, 45 minute lessons.

For example if we believed that the Bible was wrong then why would we as a whole church just spent an entire year for about an hour every Sunday studying the Old Testament. Additionally if if we believed the Bible was so wrong then why would we be now spending all of this year every Sunday for about an hour studying the New Testament. Our Sunday School program runs for about an hour every single Sunday, and we go through 4 year cycles of study. We start with the Old Testament and then move to the New Testament, then we will move to the Book of Mormon, and then we will finish of with the Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. After that we will start over and repeat the same process. Additionally we are encouraged to study every day on our own. I am currently studying in the Old and New Testaments and out of the Book of Mormon. I try to spend about an hour to an hour and a half every day. I am able to do that right now because I have a little more time than I normally do.

Now yes we do recognize that the Bible has some errors in it. We admit that the Book of Mormon could have some errors in it as well. You have to go no farther than the title page of the Book of Mormon to find proof of that. However there is a passage in the Book of Mormon that talks about those who will receive it in the future. It tells us that those who reject the Book of Mormon will slowly loose the truths that they have learned about God from the Bible. The reverse is also true. If we as faithful Latter-day Saints, were to reject the Bible then God would reject us as a people and we would loose the blessings of the Spirit that allow us to be able to learn about Him, from things like the Book of Mormon.

If you would like to have each of your questions answered you can feel free to email me and I will see about getting them all answered. However my recommendation is to forget everything you have been previously told about our beliefs and start over with reading the Book of Mormon, and taking what you know about God from the Bible, then follow the promise given at the end of the Book of Mormon and take all of that to God in prayer to see about the truth of what you have read.

Errors in Mormon doctrine.
1.God was once a man like us.
2.God has a tangible body of flesh and bone.
3.God lives on a planet near the star Kolob.
4.God ("Heavenly Father") has at least one wife, our "Mother in Heaven," but she is so holy that we are not to discuss her nor pray to her.
5.Jesus was married.
6.We can become like God and rule over our own universe.
7.There are many gods, ruling over their own worlds.
8.Jesus and Satan ("Lucifer") are brothers, and they are our brothers - we are all spirit children of Heavenly Father
9.Jesus Christ was conceived by God the Father by having sex with Mary, who was temporarily his wife.
10.We should not pray to Jesus, nor try to feel a personal relationship with him.
11.The "Lord" ("Jehovah") in the Old Testament is the being named Jesus in the New Testament, but different from "God the Father" ("Elohim").
12.In the highest degree of the celestial kingdom some men will have more than one wife.
13.Before coming to this earth we lived as spirits in a "Prue-existence", during which we were tested; our position in this life (whether born to Mormons or savages, or in America or Africa) is our reward or punishment for our obedience in that life.
14.Dark skin is a curse from God, the result of our sin, or the sin of our ancestors. If sufficiently righteous, a dark-skinned person will become light-skinned.
15.The Garden of Eden was in Missouri. All humanity before the Great Flood lived in the western hemisphere. The Ark transported Noah and the other survivors to the eastern hemisphere.
16.Not only will human beings be resurrected to eternal life, but also all animals - everything that has ever lived on earth - will be resurrected and dwell in heaven.
17.Christ will not return to earth in any year that has seen a rainbow.
18.Mormons should avoid traveling on water, since Satan rules the waters.
19.The sun receives its light from the star Kolob.
20.If a Gentile becomes Mormon, the Holy Ghost actually purges his Gentile blood and replaces it with Israelite blood.
21.A righteous Mormon will actually see the face of God in the Mormon temple.
22.You can identify a false angel by the color of his hair, or by offering to shake his hand

I am a Mormon, and we believe in the Bible. It is one of our standard works.
Of course Jesus died and ascended in Jerusalem. Then he descended in Mesoamera, and appeared the Nephites, his "other sheep", which had to be brought into the fold. We believe the Bible.
People with dark skin are not born sinners. God is not a respect or of persons. Go read the Bible.
Jesus himself quoted the psalmist, when he said, "Ye are Gods and Children of the most High."
We believe the Bible.
We believe that Jesus was the Son of God. Ever heard the expression, like father, like son? We believe the Bible. If God could have a son, he could also have a father.

Whoever you are getting your information from is a liar, and follows the prince of liars.

Yes, pretty much, and they thank you for explaining their doctrines for them so they won't have to. So they think.

Let the tares and the wheat grow together. God will take it from there.

I'm a Mormon missionary authorized by our Church to teach on line.

1. We do believe the Bible and study it regularly. It works WITH the Book of Mormon, not against it just as the Book of Mormon works WITH the Bible, not against it.

2. After Christ's death, He did visit the Americas. He is the Savior of all men, not just those in the old world.

3. Skin color has nothing to do with righteousness or unrighteousness.

4. We believe that we will continue to learn and progress after this life, but that death is part of our progression in this life. Father in Heaven wants us to continue to learn and grow and become more like him, just like any father on earth wants his children to become like him or better than him. Heavenly Father is the perfect parent figure and He loves us.

5. We do believe that there is more than one level to "heaven" and it depends on how we live in this life as to what level of glory we are given in heaven. The Celestial Glory is the highest and those who lived firm in the faith of Christ, doing all they could to follow Him, will be given this. The Terrestrial is for those who are good, but were deceived by men or chose not to follow the things they know are true. The Telestial Glory is for those who refused to be good people in general. (See 1 Cor. 15:40-41).
