Christians who aren't mormon, how do you feel that your heaven is only the terrestria
what are you talking about Ziggy, you'll receive the presence of Jesus, who is the father in Christianity, and you'll be there with all your other good christian associates. isn't that what Christians expect from heaven?
I am not sure what you are asking. If it is where I wind up by comparison in the Mormon religion, I fare better than a Mormon does in the Historic Christian scheme. If a person trusts in something else than what the Bible tells them, then they don't go to a Terrestrial kingdom!
Yea right! Our heaven is one kingdom where I will see my family if they are saved not scattered all over three kingdoms with different levels and since there is no pain in heaven I will not miss those who went to Heck, oh well.
Yes, that is true.
It is a sad belief and one that most LDS will Miss-represent if asked about.
The LDS church teaches that other believers will go to a lower level of Heaven where God is not. (The terrestrial, OR celestial kingdoms)
*They'll say OH we believe everyone is saved and goes to Heaven if a believer in God and Jesus," But intentionally leave out the part about the levels and that God is only in the highest level and Christ in the middle and the holy ghost in the lowest.
The LDS church believes that without accepting what ( founder and "prophet") Joseph Smith did and going through a LDS temple for your LDS "ENDOWMENT" one will not be exalted in Heaven (the highest level of the celestial kingdom) AND to be as God is and do what God is doing.
Yes this really offends other faiths when they find out this "belief."
THAT'S the difference many people see with LDS members...and what other Christians believe.
Few Christians understand the LDS theology on this, but yes, my Mormon friends believe that my final destination is either outer darkness (for rejecting LDS prophets) or at best, the 2ND or Terrestial Kingdom. Second prize.
Does the reader understand that Mormons believe that an eternity with Jesus is the second prize? I'm not making this up. First prize is an eternity with Elohim, God the Father, where the faithful will become a God and populate their own spirit world and eventually an earth like this one where people will pray to them. Again, I'm not making this up.
What's really strange about the LDS theology about their 3 kingdoms is it was recognized as an occult teaching by early Mormons. The diaries of Orson Pratt and John Murdock from the 1830's record their efforts to reassure members who questioned the 1832 vision of heaven. The two men described countless excommunications of Mormons, including branch presidents, who denounced "the degrees of glory" as a "satanic revelation." Even Brigham Young had a hard time with it at first and described it as "a trial to many."
Occult? Why? In 1784 a man by the name of Emanuel Swedenborg wrote a book about his visions of the afterlife. Swedenborg insisted: "There are three heavens," described as "entirely distinct from each other." He called the highest heaven "the Celestial Kingdom," and stated that the inhabitants of the three heavens corresponded to the "sun, moon and stars." Early Mormons recognized the source right away and really struggled with the 1832 revelation. Do Modern Mormons have the same level of discernment? Time will tell.
