Default Mormons - Why do you believe in Joseph Smith's writings when there is no proof of his

Please don't tell me it's just because, or it's what you've been taught, so you have no other clue. Why do you personally believe in writings that have been said to be made up?

Bible thumps, please keep to yourselves, thanks.
dislodgingguppyre you Mormon giving an honest answer, or just a troll?
If you don't like the question, keep on walking, no one forced you to answer.
Dumbass troll.
One more thing troll, learn to spell - it's "sense" not "sence".

faith is believing when there is no hard evidence...e.g. see any religion.

If you have faith dear, you do not need proof. That's the concept ...

Theres plenty of proof, and it lines up with the teachings in the Bible too.

However I don't care about the proof, I believe because the Spirit testified to me that this church is true, it also makes sense.

The coming forth of the Book of Mormon and the restoration of the gospel is prophesied in the Bible.

Heres some links to those verses if you're interested

Sorry, but this "Bible thump er" must weigh in(: Protestants believe in Jesus Christ, so do Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, JW?s and Catholics. Although I do not agree with some of these Christian denominations' dogma; their belief in Jesus is really all that matters. It hurts the cause of Jesus to have different CHRISTIAN denominations bashing one another. Let's embrace what we have in common...not our dogmatic differences. BTW I attend Baptist Church, but I do not agree with all their doctrines either.

If you claim to be a Christian then I am respectfully asking you to not engage in bashing any Christian denomination. Sure, I disagree with Morman, Catholic, etc. dogma, but the bottom line is we all believe "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believer in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." It does not further the cause of Christ to criticize other ChristiansI

When I asked this question, the Mormons told me to ask God myself and guess what, I felt the holy spirit (burning bus sum) and that was enough to convince me that the Mormon path is the true path. Other than that, it's blind faith just like the faith of any member of a religion.

after you read the book of Mormon and you wonder if these things are true and sincerely pray with all your heart and the lord confirms the truth Thur the holy ghost by giving you the direct feeling of surety and truth and a stung feeling of happiness because you know what few people know.

after we read the book of Mormon we come to know how corrupt the hearts of men are and the lengths they will go to try to prove people wrong and even kill them.

you must read the Joseph smith history, dint ask someone else about it because they will distort the truth, go ahead and read it yourselves and pray about it with all your heart and you will know its true.

You also know its true because we have millions of members who will testify that these things are true, most of our members were just like you once; they became curious of the church and the holy ghost(a way that god communicates) testifies of its truth.

Why don't you ask why a person is demo crate or republican? Why do you have to pick on someones religion? Who cares? Everyone believes their particular religion is the right one. One doesn't have to be a bible thump er in order to have common seance. A person believes in their religion because they want to. Otherwise, they wouldn't be that particular religion.

Well, first, I don't agree that there is no proof of his claims. Much of what he prophesied came to pass (the Civil War, the latter-day saints being driven out of the country to the West, the continued progress of the church across the world). But that is not why I believe in his writings.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1)

I certainly haven't seen the physical evidences of Joseph Smith's claims (say, for example, the gold plates). I also haven't seen Moses' ark of the covenant. I didn't walk with Jesus in Galilee or Jerusalem. I didn't witness the crucifixion or resurrection. But I believe in all of them because the Holy Spirit has witnessed to me in ways that are difficult to describe that they are real and true.

The Book of Mormon is true. Joseph Smith truly was a prophet of God, just as Moses or Isaiah. You can know the same things. Ask God our Father to show the truth to you. Moroni, the last prophet to write in the Book of Mormon included this promise:

3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. (Moroni 10:3-5)

Anyone who sincerely pursues this course (honestly and with real intent) will receive the same witness.

That's how I know.

Cheers.

Mormons feel that there are proofs, they have many apologetics who are constantly coming up with excuses and rationalizations for why the evidence isn't found like it should be. they just can't accept that it is wrong, because they feel good about what they believe. shouldn't the fact that they have websites dedicated to apologetics be proof enough that their church isn't true. i mean at least the bible takes place in the real world.

whats funny is that the LDS prophets claim to be the only ones who make doctrine and receive revelations for their church, but when they hear the apologetics come up with a decent excuse for something, whoa-la, they make changes.

Our society has become so hard hearted that the only acceptable evidence is physical evidence. What about spiritual evidence? My spiritual evidence, is actually stronger than the physical evidence.

When the spirit firmly speaks to you, it leaves a mark that is difficult to erase. Over time, physical evidence is easier to forget or discount. It does not penetrate the heart. If Jesus appeared to me, his appearance would be accompanied by the Holy Ghost. The strong impression I would receive would be from the Holy Ghost, not from actually seeing Jesus.

Just because my spiritual evidence is unmeasurable to you, it does not make it less valid for me.

When Peter testified that Jesus was the Christ, Jesus said to him "blessed art thou for flesh and blood has not revealed it to thee but my father in heaven".

It is extremely important that the spirit tells you the correct path to take. Otherwise you are only following the beliefs of the heard. This can be a powerful thing.

No proof of his claims? 1832 D&C 87 He predicted the civil war and where it will be started at
He was martyred in 1844, the civil war started 17 years later.

He predicted he would be known for good and evil among men for generations.
