mormons, what are some of the 'obvious lies' that 'anti-mormons' are spreading about
just name one at least, and if possible provide a link or something to the question in which this lie resides.
my gift of discernment is telling me that many of you in fact...ARE NOT MORMONS...shame on you for answering other peoples questions.
...and no, this question doesn't count as your example.
I think all they have to do is act, the Mormons and then everyone can see for themselves that they are not based on a true doctrine but one of delusion and bizarre notions.
Steer clear of false man made religions; stay close to God.
Brigham Young teaching the Adam-God doctrine, the inherent racism in the book of Mormon, and that Joseph smith couldn't translate hieroglyphics and the remnants of the "book of Abraham" prove this extensively.
A year ago the Mormon church was reported to have told Mormons not to participate in Yahoo Answers because the Mormon religion was becoming a laughingstock through it!
Compare the bible and christian beliefs with the Mormon book and beliefs and it is as plain as day that Mormons only claim to be christian because they are afraid to stand up as an entirely separate religion!
I'm sure it would be easier for one to do an advanced search. That way you could see many of them. Many of them are not lies but twisted truths, biased opinions, etc.
They claim we practice polygamy. They claim we hate gays. They claim we don't follow the Bible. They claim we think Joseph Smith is the way. They claim Brigham taught the Adam from the garden is God.
We don't practice polygamy. Homosexuality is a sin against God. We know the Bible and Book of Mormon are the word of God so yes, we do follow the Holy Bible as well. We teach that Jesus Christ is the only way but we also know Christ taught we're to accept his messengers. For information about Brigham's teaching on the Adam thing you can actually read 1 Corinthians 15:45-49 which is what Brigham was referring to. Jesus Christ is called a second "Adam". Also, if you know something about grammar and you look what Brigham actually said you'll see he was referring to Adam when he mentioned the Garden and also Jesus when mentioned our God just as the Bible refers to Christ as our Lord our God.
Shame on me for answering Mormon questions? When the Mormon church will not let me go even though I've been exclaimed for over 50 years? How so? The LDS has determined to send me to their version of hell even though I'm no longer a member of their church. How can a human organization determine what will happen to someone, if A. God still exists and is Sovereign, and B. they are no longer under your religious jurisdiction, but C. have always been under God's? Well, I can't help what they may assume.
But if Joseph Smith can exploit hatred for Mormonism and turn it around to bolster his church organization's persecution complex, then what's good for the goose is good enough for the gander, don't you think? It's only fair. Or are you not fair, except only when it comes to Mormonism? That's not being fair. That's spreading lies on yahoo answers. And like Quill Quill, you will only be seen as you really are by thinking people. A troll, then dismissed. Please explain how or why would anyone want that?
I am what I am. Are you? Or is your belief system all a lie?
That God has many wives, and so (3 wives)does Jesus ( so Jesus is allowed to get to the highest kingdom with no wife, wow must be nice!) That they will be Gods (they claim co-creators) (whatever) that means, so why don;t we just go with Gods anyways...That the African American was Never allowed into the Celestial Kingdom until 1978 because they had no priesthood and they where never allowed into the temple...plain and simple....while other African American churches offered salvation.
Shall I go on or shall I digress??
My stepmother was raised in Indiana. when she left home she worked in defense factories around Detroit. She met my father in the defense plant, and they were married. They moved to Illinois and lived in Illinois until1972 when they moved to northern California. My step-mother had been raised in a protestant denomination, and had been confirmed in that church.
Sometime in the 90's she received a letter from the local Mormon church, inviting her to come back to church. She replied that she had never ever attended a Mormon church, and they must have her confused with someone who had the same name.
They responded with a letter detailing her participation in youth activities, etc. She again told them that they had the wrong person, that she had never attended a Mormon church in her life, she had been confirmed in a certain church, grew up in the Midwest, etc.
The third letter came from the Mormon church. They were "unappetizing" her. So, somewhere in this world is a woman with the same name as my step-mother's who has been unbaptized without her knowledge or consent.
I have been answering the same false stuff for years but they never go away. Some statements are false while many are deliberately presented or fragmented in such a way as to make the church look bad. Here are a few:
1. Mormons wear magic underwear: The truth is that they wear a garment that reminds them of the covenants that they make in the temple. Keeping covenants spiritually protects us. The garment is warn underneath the clothes so as not to bring attention to them.
2. Jesus and Satan are brothers: The truth is that Mormons believe that we are all spirit children of God. One of the children was the rebellious Satan who was cast out. Another was the perfectly obedient son Jesus who was chosen to be our redeemer. So yes, Jesus, Satan, Martin Luther King, Hitler and you are all brothers.
3. Mormons believe that they will become Gods and own their own planet: The whole truth is that Mormons believe in eternal progression which means that we continue to grow after we die. If this is true, then what kind of people will we be in a trillion years?
4. Mormons are trying to work their way to heaven: The truth is that Mormons believe that we are saved by grace through the atonement of Christ. Many Christians believe that we must believe in Christ in order to earn his grace. Mormons believe that we must have sufficient faith and trust in Christ that we will strive to be like him. Mormons do not believe that we can be saved while our backs are turned to Christ but that we must repent (a general turning from a life of sin to following Christ). We cannot just acknowledge that he exist but we must "put on" Christ. Actually Christians always use Pauls writings concerning turning away from the dead works of the law, to justify their belief that we need do nothing to be saved. See if you can find anything that Christ said to justify this. Christ only taught us to do good. For example, When the rich young man asked Christ what he needed to do to be saved, Christ told him to keep the commandments. Then he told him to sell all that he had and give to the poor in order to be saved.
5. Mormons worship Joseph Smith: The truth is that we do not worship Joseph Smith anymore that the Israelites worshiped Moses.
7. We must practice polygamy to be saved: No where does our scriptures state this.
8. Women are not equal to men and need men to be saved: The truth is that both men and women need each other to be saved. Men and women have different roles but are of equal value to the Lord. Men and women work with each other to fulfill their Divine destinies.
9. The Mormon church only wants money and we must pay in order to go to the temple: The reality is that church leaders do not obtain wealth from the church. I saw the house of the president of the church. He lives in a modest neighborhood house where he raised his children. The leader of a many billion dollar organization lives in a house that is worth about 300 thousand dollars. When members of the church become spiritually mature, they may make high covenants in the temple. Some of the indicators of sufficient faith include living the law of chastity, being honest with our fellow men, sustaining church authorities and paying tithes.
10 Mormons hate gays because they fight against gay marriage: This is not true. Mormons do not hate gays but strive to protect marriage. There are many faithful, temple worthy Gay's in the church. However, they must keep the law of Chasity just like everyone else.
11. Mormons hate blacks: This is not true. However, the church does not bow down to social pressures but follows direction from God. If you want to blame anyone for God giving the priesthood to only the levites, or not taking the gospel to the gentiles at the time of Christ of blacks not holding the priesthood, you mus blame God.
12. Our testimonies of the truthfullness of the gospel are based on feelings: This is not true. Revelation is received as an enlightening communication to the mind that causes us to understand and have a sure knowledge. It is also accompanied by feelings of warmth and peace.
13. Mormonism is not true because revelations says to not add to this book of prophecy: This is the stupidist, non sensical argument I have ever heard. But it never goes away. The bible was compiled 300 years after the last bible records were written. The book of Revelation was NOT refering to the bible.
