Default Isn't funny that Joseph Smith fulfilled one of his own prophecies? Read below?

Remember when he said this in 1828:
"For although a man may have many revelations, and have power to do many mighty works, yet if he boasts in his own strength, and sets at naught the counsels of God, and follows after the dictates of his own will and carnal desires, he must fall and incur the vengeance of a just God upon him."

Remember when he said this the month before he died:
"Come on, ye persecutors, ye false swearers! All hell boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! For I will come out on the top at last. I have more to boast of than any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-Day Saints never ran away from me yet."

I guess he was a prophet. OR maybe God does have a sense of humor. What do think?
He was killed a month later by a mob.

way to cherry pick to make an assumed point.........really. skills.

however --- the "boasting" statement, when understood (or even considered) in its proper context, does not appear to be a statement of personal pride at all.
JS read to the congregation 2 Corinthians 11 and then mimicked Paul (who was speaking in similar manner in Corinthians) in his "boasting."
taken in proper context, JS was not acting in a proud manner at all but was using the rhetoric and example of Paul to defend his own authority as a prophet against those who were then proclaiming him a "fallen prophet."
what is telling though is that this statement is used often in anti-Mormon literature as a criticism of the prophet......but when viewed in context of delivery instead show that even if he were in fact proud, it doesn't damage his authority as a prophet/apostles any more than it damaged Jesus' apostles' (Paul) authority.

nice try @twisting things though......

AND there are further considerations to be made........the date of the sermon is 26 May 1844 - and yes, a month later, the prophet was dead.
did he supervise this entry? No. fact: the last years of his entries in the HTC were actually made by others after his death. (it was common at the time for other authors to write as if someone else was speaking).
so, these are not JS's words--but the words which others (who admired him enormously after his murder) said he said....... this point is vitally important to keep in mind when trying to assess the character of JS, his moral and spiritual quality, and his time as prophet.......well, if you really want the actual truth that is.
