Default Do you respect Mormons for what they do?

I'm not Mormon, and I don't believe that their version of salvation is entirely true. However, I admire the fact that they spread what they believe to be the way to Heaven through door-to-door ministry. They know that people are annoyed by them, and yet they don't give up trying to save our souls. I mean, they don't benefit directly from anyone being converted; they honestly think that they're doing our eternal souls a favor and so they knowingly endure persecution for it. Doesn't that kind of bravery evoke admiration?

Sure, everybody likes door-to-door salesmen. Especially if they try to sell you a religion.

I mean, whatever would be the matter with people interrupting your daily life to tell you their personal and unsupported beliefs and arrogantly expecting you to adopt them?

They're taking advantage of people with lies and trickery to lure them into a false religion. This is a crime against humanity. They dishonestly present their bogus religion as though it is just another version of Christianity. They deliberately leave out important information like Joe Smith and his magic rocks, golden plates that no one ever saw, evidence proving the Book of Mormon is false etc, they leave out all this stuff just to make a sale. They are scum.

Of course. I mean, who could possibly be annoyed by that.

I like the way they give up their seats to the elderly on overcrowded buses. That's about it. I abhor their cheek in coming to proselytize in Wales, possibly Christian for 1900+ years.

For what it's worth, I'm a Mormon and I respect JW's for doing a similar thing, even though I disagree with their version of salvation being 100% true as well.

No it doesn't. It's brainwashing for dollars. They go out to recruit new members so they can have their tithing money. The young men are also told they have to go on a mission, it's a commandment. You are a social outcast if you are within mission age and haven't gone on one for whatever reason. There is no respect for that, none at all.

No one here even gets your point. They are so blind to THEIR biases that they cant get past the point that you aren't condoning Mormon beliefs. Just that there is something to be respected in a Mormon missionary's intentions and efforts. As a returned missionary myself I thank you for that. You dint have to agree with our doctrine, but its nice when someone can see past all the biased rhetoric for two solid seconds and see that our hearts are in the right places. We make zero money off our missions, in fact we pay for them ourselves. It IS 100% based on an effort to serve and love our fellow human beings. It was the hardest thing Ive ever done, and the most worthwhile.

j_decor..-- that attitude is so ignorant. We do it to bring in more tithing money?? Why? Tithing money pays for more churches and temples. No one pockets it in the church. We have no paid clergy. So who do you think is benefiting from all those tithing dollars rolling in?? Yeah....that member who has a church building to worship in. Get over your propaganda.

You should have the utmost respect for what they do.

They are out there on their own time and money trying to help people get converted to the true church through the help of the Lord and Jesus Christ.

If you don't wanna talk to them then you don't have to. It's amazing how people can claim they bug them all the time. It seems to me they just don't wanna hurt their feelings so they tell them to come back, then complain about being harassed. Pitiful.
