It was the writings of Jospeh Smith that made this claim. Most modern Mormons reject that idea.

I think you have them confused with Scientology. Mormons are the one that believe their founder read their scripture from a rock in a magic hat. Of course i could have that backwards. they are both weird .

The Bible also says, "I have said, ye are gods -- and all of you are children of the Most High." So you think we're strange for believing the Bible. Hmm. Go figure.

I don't know if it means this "other planet" business or if we just go into the family business and help our Father by ruling kingdoms for him.

But Paul himself said that Jesus, being in the image of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, so again, my church's beliefs are 100% in line with the Bible. Is that what you don't like?

What do you expect from a religion that believes the snakes of this world, instead of the only Lord in Heaven? Snakes swallow their prey whole. Without chewing. They also have poor eyesight. So they REALLY don't know what they are swallowing without chewing.

The planet Kolob is taken. Go find another one!

But to answer your question, see the link above. You will not be disappointed.

Psstt... Satan is Jesus's brother, and they are hanging out at the local bar, slapping five and doing other "brother" stuff... NOT!!!

The people who are feeding you Anti-Mormon information are bearing false witness (because of jealously). They are twisting LDS doctrine like a pretzel and using shock talk to mess with your mind.

There are people in this World who actually believe that Mormons have horns.

http://www.Mormon.org use the chat feature if you want to delve into questions about the after life.

Mormons are aware of certain things about the after life that other people are not.

If you have ever read a Christian website by an Atheist or what have you, or an answer from someone who is an Anti-Christian on Yahoo Answers, there is a definite twisted kind of mentality that takes place that is obvious to the well informed.

This is the same kind of mentality as the Anti-Mormons display. Of if you have ever gone to countries in the Middle East, and listened to the Propaganda that is pumped out against Jews by the Arabs and others, who have an ax to grind against the Jews, an objective person can see the similarity in the sick mindset that is so prevalent.

People get fooled because they want to get fooled.

THE Church of JESUS CHRIST Of Latter Day Saints is all about facilitating people who want to live the commandments of Jesus Christ more and more in their life.

At BYU the rate of Premarital Sex is 1%. While the rate of premarital adultery at other supposedly Christian Colleges are 40% and that percentage is rising frighteningly.

Mormons believe in doing what Jesus Christ said to do.

People die. It is a fact. Many people try to put this fact out of their minds, but there is no way to get around it. Someday you will surely die.

When you die, your spirit leaves your body. For awhile you will live in the Spirit World. Eventually you will receive a body, when you are resurrected (just like Jesus Christ was resurrected and gained a body for His spirit).

There are different Heavens depending on how evil or righteous you are. As Martin Luther King said, it is the content of the char actor that is important.

If you are a lower type of person you will go to a lower Heaven. If you are a higher type of person, then you will go to a higher type of Heaven.

Mormons can believe anything that they want to, personally. Mormons don't dispute doctrines like so many religious groups spend time doing, because this is a wast of time. Mormons busy their time doing righteousness, and know that eternal justice is God's justice.

God wants people to be the Good Samaritan, not spend their times misinforming others about someone Else's religion. Bearing false witness is a seriously evil thing to do.

Mormons do not bear false witness against other religions.

For further information on this question, about the Eternities, that you have, contact your local LDS Missionaries. They will illuminated your mind on this subject.

Before they come to your home, after you have invited them, fast and pray that you will be able to understand the truth of this question that they will relate to you. And fast and pray that you be able to frame the concept as God would have you frame the concept, not as the profane drug addicted and alcohol and venereal disease afflicted would have you frame this religious topic.

Yes. Here is the lesson on exaltation that is taught currently:
http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?hideNav=1&locale=0&sourceId=7eab7befabc2 0110VgnVCM100000176f620a____&vgnextoid=32c41b08f33 8c010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD

There isn't a huge amount of canonized scripture about it, but just enough to be pretty clear that men progress to become gods, and God was once a human too.

Let's do what naphtha suggests, and ask the missionaries on the Mormon chat!

Agent [Raymart] is ready to assist you.
Raymart:?hi Aragorn?
Me:?hey
Raymart:?how are you?
Me:?good
Me:?you?
Raymart:?fine how you doing?
Me:?a Mormon asked me to come here to ask a question
Raymart:?OK what do you want to know?
Me:?do Mormons believe that after you die, you can be a god on another planet like the god of this earth?
Raymart:?we believe that. but it depends in our doings in this earth.
Me:?what kind of doings?
Raymart:?if we do good and we are obedience to follow the commandments of our Heavenly Father
Raymart:?we will become like him
Me:?is this how god became god?
Raymart:?no this is the plan of our heavenly father
Raymart:?to become like him
Me:?can you share with me how our heavenly father became the god of us?
Raymart:?Just want to ask what interests you with that?

And the conversation after that went on the normal path of question-dodging and him requesting more personal information from me and him suggesting me to speak with missionaries in person and blah blah blah, have a nice day, end transmission.
