Default Have you spent many a days waiting for Mormons to come to your door with a message?

they finally showed up at my door. For years I have planed what I would say to them, making them justify why they believe this or that, but I didn't do that. Instead I told them that I respected what THEY choose to believe and just would like them to respect what I choose to believe. They thanked me for my honesty and left. I just find it so amazing that if we just respected what others want to believe and not push our beliefs down their throat, I think it would be a start in all of us getting along. What do you think?

I just took the pamphlet and threw it in the recycling the moment the door shut. Not worth the effort.

Good for you for being civil.

To answer your question: No, I most definitely do NOT spend my days waiting for the Elders (missionaries). I was raised LDS and got out as soon as I turned 18. Haven't looked back since, and have no regrets.

No. It is this sort of open tolerance and respect that nurtures crazy abortion doctor killers and suicide bombers. All this touchy-feel love and understanding would be fine if it weren't for people like Fred Phelps and Saddam Hussein. We keep telling people it's OK to believe in a magical sky daddy who hates everybody, even his own son, and promotes the death penalty for just about every minor infraction, and they'll keep raising their children to believe it, and one of those children eventually is going to take a stronger hold on the delusion than their siblings, and we'll have another Scott Roeder thinking the lord told him to pull the trigger. But that's just the viewpoint of a militant Atheist.

Isn't it amazing how far civility and courtesy can take us?

I think common courtesy, mutual respect, and the "do unto others as you would have them do" is the way to deal with all interpersonal issues.

actually, when i was 18 i was praying and fasting for the gift of prophecy, like Paul suggests to do, in Corinthians, as a spiritual gift to "edify" the church.
while i was praying and fasting the spirit of "revelation" came upon me like an invisible being through telepathy, and i asked which church do "i join".?
my answer was to receive a few visions and the name of the church specifically. ONLY the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints was/is the only christian church that teaches doctrine i was taught by that spirit of revelation.
Why do i say this? because at the time i was praying and searching for the truth and which church to join, the Mormon "missionaries" were right there on the spot.

so by filling in the details, i can show you how the answer i give to your question, was that I did not have to "wait" at all.
