Because the Mormon religion makes no sense (then again, neither does any religion).

My only problem is the proselytizing. I hate having anyone try to convert me.

The winners write the history books.

You were, for the most part, chased away from the Eastern Coast of the United States. The "winners" were Anglo-Saxon Christians. Your denomination is not Anglo-Saxon.

Anglo-Saxon Christians tend to disapprove of your religion and therefore you're not given the respect and equal opportunity within Christianity.

Because we are different and people don't like thinks that are different from what they are use to. Also there are a lot of misunderstandings about us and our beliefs.

Because Mormons, like Jehovah's Witnesses are known for doing a lot of service work, like going to homes and trying to share their beliefs with non-believers. People get irritated because they often don't want to be bothered at their home. Also, People seek to hear and read messages that are consistent with their beliefs. If a Mormon, or a Jehovah's Witness goes to somebody and tells them their beliefs, it shakes up some body's world if they realize they've been living in sin.

because you send people all in the same outfits all over the country and world telling people that what they and their families have believed for a very long time is wrong and they they have to think the way they do to have a chance in heaven. Also the whole way the religion started can be kinda unsettling.

Because some Mormons have ruined your reputation. I know most Mormons, do not behave like this (I assume you are one that doesn't as you would not be allowed on a computer because it is worldly), but there are some that practice plural mar rage, and treat there children and wife's like crap. Read the book "Keep Sweet" it is written by someone that escaped Bountiful in Creston B.C.

Well that was a good question and I will be honest as I can. The reason I begin to think negative is because of the "other" book that y'all use. It is the Joseph Smith book. But on the other hand I have a very good friend that is a Mormon and we found a common ground so we could remain friends. His name is Jesus.

The fact that men are allowed to marry several wives, you're not consistent in your preaching work (some states do, some don't) you tell your congregation what clothes and even colors to wear. My friend moved from CA to UT and was treated disrespectfully cause she was a woman and had to move back to CA....choose one.

I worry about the fact that you guys have a book other than the Bible. Christians believe that the Bible is stand-alone, so that alone separates you from Christians. There are substantial differences in belief

What is a Christian. Christ never called us Christians. We decided to call ourselves that in Antioch back in the Bible days. Mormons have a book called 'the book of Mormon' supposedly it is another testament of Jesus Christ. To testify is one thing and writing a book on testimony is fine, but Mormons use that book to teach how to live as Christians.

If you are a Christian you will simply follow the Christ of the HOLY BIBLE not the deceitful teachings of the 'book of Mormon'

I grew up in a neighborhood of Mormons and my family were the only catholics (I do not consider myself religion based anymore) and my best friend who lived across the street was Mormon. They would ask me to come to church with them every week and then criticize what I wore and try to convert me. This was all a little too forthright for me. I do not think it is necessarily a bad religion, however I do not agree with a lot of the beliefs either.

A CHRISTian is a follower and believer that Jesus IS God and eternally existed. Mormons believe Jesus was created and is Satan's brother.
THAT my friend, IS NOT CHRISTIANITY.
Remember, religion kills, relationship with Jesus is Eternal Life.
Believe on Him and be saved.

Not everyone does. I think that perhaps some of the less conventional values that your faith requires (the undergarments, the mission, marrying young, lots of kids, the amount you tithe, avoiding caffeine) along with the belief in a "Latter Day Saint" is what puts some people off. Don't let them get to you. I've found the Mormon people in my community to be some of the kindest people I've met. The ones I know are very giving people who are very active within the community with strong family values, and I don't see anything wrong with that.

Oh, and everyone should know by now that you abandoned plural marriages in the 1800s in order for Utah to obtain statehood. While I know some fundamentalists still practice this part of the doctrine, the beliefs of those few do not reflect the beliefs of the many.

It doesn't really matter what faith you subscribe to, as long as you're a genuinely good person. I'm an atheist. Can you imagine the negative connotations that come along with that?

Sometimes the things people say, they are going by what they heard, or what they are trying to get a cross. Some people are lemoned, always got a million questions, but can't come to a decision. Also you never know the lifestyle that. That persons living, sometimes when hearing criticism you got to shake it off.

Probably because they have heard a garbled report that Latter-Day Saints do not even believe in God the way most Christians do.

After all, Joseph Smith did rev elate that God the Father was once a human just like us, and Jesus is His Son who made good. And declared that if a Saint does everything his church says just exactly right, someday the "he" will be a god as well. And the "she" who is bonded to that "he" for all eternity gets to be the housewife for the world the "he" will allowed to create.

There is nothing like that in any other denomination of Christianity. In other denominations, humanity is there to love and serve the Lord, NOT to compete with Him for a plentiful of sapient beings to create, control and raise to be Gods themselves. Therefore in those people's minds, Mormons cannot be Christians. See?

I grew up in Utah, and know quite alto about Mormons. When I was young, I was out casted from the Mormon clicks, because i wasn't Mormon. I think Mormonism is a type of cult. Ive read the Mormon bible, and sat with missionaries, only to find that i cant believe it. i think many others have found the same. Mormon's have strange idea's that go against the grain of other religions, maybe that is why you get negative reactions with the majority of the population.

For me, I think it's because I don't know very much at all about the Mormon religion. The things I've heard, like that the founder was visited by an angel and that's what the Book of Mormon is about, are not your garden variety stories about the founding of a religion.

I don't think negative, I guess I just have to do some research so I'm better informed.

Mormons are cult members. The Mormons have never been taken seriously and are often times more hated than Jehovah's witness. They are in a sense Christians because they believe in Christ. However what makes em cult members is that they believe the nonsense that another part of the bible was written in America and that some Israelites escaped Israel and came to America. when they came to America they created a new society and the Indians was really these refugee Israelites.
The book of Mormon was written by a con man. he could never prove he found these golden tablets in which he translated the book of Mormon. There is no proof of any kind that Israelites escaped to America. there is not even one shred of evidence that the Indians are Israelites in any form.
the book of Mormon is a piece of fiction. In fact it can be compared to the writings of Tolkien and C.L Lewis. A man took the bible and tried to add to it just to make a quick buck!
