If I remember correctly, they were taken back to God.

Very good question. Makes you wonder if they even existed. Joseph "translated" some copper plates into scripture that were found in Illinois, and with scientific testing, the alloys that made up the plates were not used until around Joseph Smith's time. This completely proves his "translation" was a hoax.

never existed....so they are no where...

God wrote his laws on stone because the word was of high value and the material was of permanence...

a counterfeit is supposedly written on a material that only man values.....

Mormons believe this story anyway. So it is none of my business. I don't care where they are. If God wanted them as one of his servants, they would not believe in the Mormon religion.

"Oh," said the Collective, "We don't have them anymore...
"They were taken back to God because Brother Smith had finished copying or dictating or translating or interpreting or whatever the hell he was doing to them. "

The Collective then added, "By the way, Smith never even looked at the pages very much, and never referred to the Plates for his Translation. He just looked at his stupid rock place in his hat and came up with the same silly-ass story he told since boyhood about good Indians and bad Indians."

So god said, 'Give me back the damn plates, dipstick!"

And so, he did.

But that wasn't the last stab at 'Translating' Brother Smith would make.
