Are you asking how many churches there are, or how many religions? There are many different religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Bhuddism, and Hinduism just to mention the largest.
In Christianity, there are not different churches, but different denominations. It is like ice cream. There are many different flavors, but it is still ice cream in the end. The Christian denominations tend to hold to a certain core of beliefs. The differences are in theology, and organization, and in styles of worship.
Those of us who are Christians see ourselves as having the true religion with those of other faiths sometimes coming close, but still being off target.
The thing is this. God has revealed himself in many ways, and I think that the other faiths all have some degree of truth in them that has been revealed by God. I simply feel that the truth has been most fully revealed through Jesus because in seeing him, we have seen God.
No matter what our faith is, it all comes down to this. No one is good enough. Everyone of us has broken some part of God's law in some way. If we are guilty, then punishment is due. Either we need to be punished, which means being separated from God, or someone has to take that punishment for us.
The Quakers teach that we should be tolerant of others' beliefs. Although I am not a Quaker, I believe that I do not have the right to condemn a person because of their belief. I may disagree with them, but I must treat them as fellow children of God just as they are. I can not judge them. That is left for God alone.
