do you feel how blessed is our Orthodox church when you read these answers?
people HAVE YOU EVER ABOUT HEARD SODOM AND GOMOR?
Liberalism is good, but this is pseudo-liberalism.
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination (Leviticus 20:13)
it doesn't even need to prove that homosexuality is very big sin, but I've written one example from bible, but there are so many.
oh and here I wanna answer to your previous question.
We need to say confession to priest, because he can materialize that sacrament, like other sacraments (except ordination and holy unction, which can be done by bishop)
as we can?t transform bread and wine into blood and body, or baptize ourselves, as we can?t materialize that sacrament with ourselves, that can a man who has authority to do that
"I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.?? Matthew (18:18)
??If you forgive someone, so do I. Indeed, what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, I did in the presence of Christ for your benefit.?? (2 Corinthians 2:10)
??If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.?? (1 John 1:9)
about the icons:
why do we worship them? actually we worship, who are impressed on icons. because worshiping of icons coming from old testament and is unchanged in new. icons of angels were expressed in the curtains of the temples. read Exodus 25:18-20 two statues of cherubims were on the top of Ark of the Covenant .
worshiping of images of angels wan' t forbid en, it was forbid en to respect icon of god, why? we know that it was forbidden in O.T to make images of god, (but not images of angels and people) that's because no one could see the god, but in N.T when god took flesh, and people could see him materially, it was possible to make his images. besides Jesus gave us blessing to make icons, with image of Odessa, when king Abgaros wanted to see his face, the painter was trying to paint him. Jesus didn't forbid him to paint him, just painter couldn't decibel his holy face, and when Jesus saw that, he miraculously made icon, calls not made by human hands, and this icon healed the ilness of king Abgaros.
also miracleousely was made icon by most blessed virgin.
Apostle Luke was an author about 100 icons.
we can find out icons and frescoes in catacombes and in ancient churches, that means the first Christians respected icons too, and Eastern Orthodox church with 280 million parish is oiginal, pre-denominational and ancient church and respects icons.
iconoclasm isn't new, iconoclasm was born in 7-8 century, and before that all Christians respected icons. but the iconoclasm was fully destroyed in the 10th century. and even after that until protestantism there wasn't any iconoclast, so how do you think all ancient Christians were wrong, even apostles and only protestants in XXI century keep the truth?
have you people ever heard about early church? history of curch? about the 7th ecumenical council?
look what holy fathers say:
Concerning the doctrinal significance of icons :
''Icons are necessary and essential because they protect the full and proper doctrine of the Incarnation. While God cannot be represented in His eternal nature He can be depicted simply because He "became human and took flesh." Of Him who took a material body, material images can be made. In so taking a material body, God proved that matter can be redeemed. He deified matter, making it spirit-bearing, and so if flesh can be a medium for the Spirit, so can wood or paint, although in a different fashion.''
''I do not worship matter, but the Creator of matter, who for my sake became material and deigned to dwell in matter, who through matter effected my salvation'' - St. John of Damascus.
and look how many Orthodox icons have power of miracle. they can heal people, chrism and blood comeing from many of them.
