Default Is the traditional Amish and Mennonite pacifism absolute, that is, they will not figh

I know that they are pacifists when it comes to going off to war.
Mennonites cannot be renegades from the Amish, because the Amish split off the Mennonites, not the other way around.

Give one a hard time and you'll find out how absolute it is

Turning the other cheek doesn't mean putting up with $h!t

Speaking from experience (witness, not peep) -- if you piss off an Amish dude he will probably hit you then be sorry. Humans are humans.

I am not sure about the Mennonites, but it is very true about the Amish. Mennonites are considered renegades to the Amish. A more liberal group.

I knew several Amish people and I saw them everyday where I used to live in PA. Right now, I?m sitting on a chair they made.'

To answer your question, I don?t think they would fight. They would run away. But they do go hunting birds and I?vie seen an Amish guy kill a mountain rattle snake.

Actually, the Amish and Mennonite groups are supposed to be non-resistant. This is different from pacifism which allows you to be involved in the political world such as protests as long as you are not violent... think MLK Jr.

Non resistance comes from Jesus' words to resist not evil and to turn the other cheek. As a result, if an Amish man were involved in a scrap, he would not defend himself.

This also extends to the fact that these groups believe that they should not judge other people. If they were to fight, they would be saying that the opposing party is wrong. They also are C.Os, so that they want to make sure that they are leaving a consistent witness for the government to see.
