I mean why do they jump around and shout gibberish and fall down. Is this just a placebo affect or what?

some Pentecosts are not crazy. the Pentecosts Ur talking about (including charismatics) are self deluded Christians who think they can speak in tongues (which they can't) and believe when you receive the Holy Spirit Ur suppose to jump around like crazy

The very first time I ever dumped a boyfriend it was because he told me that he was Pentecostal and could speak in tongues. I can comprehend why people believe a lot of things that they do, religiously speaking, but that one is just a little much for me.

Sometimes they lay down hands in large groups, and everyone gets excited. I pass no judgment.

Find a bible ASAP and check out the Book of Acts..look up the day of Pentecost!!! Mg this is better than the Family n Relationship Category..loll

Jesus is not returning for Denomination, he is returning for a CHURCH(you are the church). Going from man made denomination to denomination is not the answer, It is who you are truly serving. There has been incorrect teaching about the Holy Ghost/Spirit-Speaking in tongues. This is of God, but just because you have been saved does not mean that you are filled with the Holy Ghost. so no you wouldn't have spoken in tongues because, that is the evidence that Gods' spirit has entered into you, and not everyone WHO is saved has received it, and you cannot receive the Holy Ghost if you don't believe in the Holy Ghost. With out faith it is impossible to please God. I know much about the Pentacostal, Apostolic Churches. I go to a non-denominational church. We believe in the entire book, the power of God, and true holiness. If God has planted you in a place, you stay there, and trust and ask God to help you. I am filled with the Holy Ghost and have the evidence. I shout/dance in church, but believe me it is more than just that. You should never refer to Gods Spirit or praising God as crazy. Trust God and love HIM, and therefore you will then love the true things of God.

Have you ever gone to a sports game with thousands of sports fanatics? They go crazy over a game. A GAME! IT'S JUST A GAME!
I get Excited knowing the living God! I will jump, run, yell.
It's not "gibberish" to the mature believer. Perhaps there are some young in the faith who try to speak in tongues rather than to allow the Holy Spirit to speak through them. This could be "gibberish."
And as far as falling down goes...to truly be in God's presence can overpower one to fall.
