Default info on protestantism?

Are protestants supposed to have like little cross necklaces ?

I've been given that from my bf who's catholic n i keep it inside out as i think the representation of Christ on a cross is macabre and not appropriate. i mean he did lots of nice things and how do we (especially Catholics) represent it? On a cross! the day of his death

what protestants think bout it?

I am a Catholic and I am wearing a crucifix as I write. I do not hide it inside my shirt.

Wearing a crucifix is no more "wrong" that Protestants putting out manger scenes at Christmas time. You say that Christ is no longer dead....well, he is not longer an infant in a manger either.

Actually, Jesus on a Cross is the fulfillment of the hanging of the bronze serpent in the dessert back during the time of Moses. It was god who commanded that it be made so that anyone who had been bitten by a serpent simply had to look at it and they would live.

Paul says that "we preach Christ crucified".

Also, most Protestants forget the price that Jesus paid for our sins. The corpus on the cross is an austere reminder of what we, too, are called to. We won't actually be nailed to a cross but "we shall reign with him IF only we suffer with him. I need that tangible reminder to keep me on track and to help me to reflect when troubles and sorrows find me.

Protestants don't wear a Roman Catholic crucifix, because we don't believe in the Mass, in which Christ is continually sacrificed.
We believe that Christ was crucified once and for all.

Any one can wear a cross. The catholic cross with Christ on it, is a picture of how horrible a death He died, to save mankind from eternal hell. But constantly seeing Christ on a cross is in a way, misleading. He is not now on the cross, HE AROSE, He is alive, and He awaits our coming to Him in heaven.

I agree with you, I think it is inappropriate. But what you feel in your heart is what matters. All the religious jewelry, and rosaries don't matter to God, All that matters to God, is how you feel about Him, and how you show Him to others in the way you live.
