Good Morning

There is a very interesting Wikipedia page, an extract of which:

"Hitler demonstrated a preference for Protestantism over Catholicism, as Protestantism was more open to reinterpretations, especially Positive Christianity, and a non-traditional re-reading of sacred scripture, and because some of its liberal branches had similar views. These views were supported by the German Christians movement, but rejected by the Confessing Church. According to Steigmann-Gall, Hitler regretted that "the churches had failed to back him and his movement as he had hoped;" and he stated according to Albert Speer: "Through me the Protestant Church could become the established church, as in England."

Not all the Protestant churches submitted to the state, which Hitler said in Mein Kampf was important in forming a political movement. Hitler supported the appointment of Ludwig M?ller as Reichsbischof over the Protestant churches, hoping that he would get them to adhere to Nazi positions. After 1935 Hitler was advised by the newly-appointed Reich Minister for Church Affairs Hans Kerrl. Many Protestants who were not persuaded by argument were arrested and their property and funds confiscated. Hitler said of the Protestants "you can do anything you want with them, they will submit..."

Well, I found it interesting any way- make your own decision .

Hitler was a politician who picked and chose from a variety of religious sources -- and not all of them were Christian -- to suite his own agenda. It isn't the first time that religion has been abused throughout the years.

Peace be with you.

Hitler was born to a catholic family but did not practice it after he left home, history said that he was inclined to believed in Protestantism but did not say that he was practicing it because if he was practicing it then why would he kill so many people? Both Catholic and the protestant church are believers of Christ and they adhere to the teaching of Christ. What ever Hitler did was never a teaching of Christ.

Interestingly enough, Hitler was Austrian and Jewish. Though he was a German politician and thus supported Germany. Lutheranism was founded by Martin Luther who was German and Lutheranism is a German Protestant Sect, so I guess that may be one reason. I think Hitler also agreed with Luther's philosophy.

Here are some interesting articles: http://www.catholicapologetics.info/apologetics/protestantism/hitler.htm

Hello,

1) Hitler was born a Roman Catholic but left the church and sacraments at any early age. He is difficult to peg at times because he'd speak of positive Christianity in one rant then turn around and say it was just a bastardized form of Judaism and a religion of slaves, incompatible with National Socialism in the next.

2) Nevertheless he needed votes initially to climb to power. Germany was 2/3 Lutheran Protestant and 1/3 Catholic in his time so he had to pander to them initially.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly
