Which brand of Protestantism are you referring to? There are thousands of Protestant denominations, with doctrinal differences that range from the very minor to the outrageously major. Some have absolutely no difference from some others, but they remain independent because the leader does not want to be accountable to anyone else for the soundness of his teaching. If you don't agree with the leader, you can start a new church.
And this is one of the main differences between Orthodoxy and Protestantism. The Orthodox Church holds the same views and practices Christianity the same way it did 1500 years ago. For me, longevity and stability say a lot.
There is one Eastern Orthodox Church, with various national and ethnic expressions (Greek, Russian, Antiochian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Georgian, American, etc.), but we are ONE church, holding the same beliefs, and practicing the same Faith.
