What is the difference between Puritanism from Protestantism?

I need to find a creditable source that distinguishes Puritanism from Protestantism. So far I haven't had any luck. Does anyone know of a good site that would have that information (besides Wikipedia)...?

Unfortunately it's a book - Seeds of Albion (I got mine from Amazon.com used) - darn good book on the early settlers of the colonies from England and the border country of Scotland and how different the four waves actually were in a lot of things, including religion.

I think the term "protestant" is a label for any Christian who does not recognize the Pope, and the idea of the "true one holy apostolic catholic church"

So, the "puritans" protested the Papacy, and protested the Anglican church, so they were definitely protestants.

The Puritans split from the church of England while the Protestants split from the Roman Catholic Church.
