Was Protestantism formed purely out of rebeliion against Christ's church and for poli
Many believe that Christ built the Catholic church and it has continued on to this day and that Protestants were simply not able to adhere to the stricter rules of the Catholic church therefore an ' easier' form of Christianity was formed by martin Luther which involves less work and commitment .
So really are they going against Christ ? those who call themselves protestant ? and was there church also influenced by political greed ?
By "many" you mean "Catholics". Not exactly an unbiased source.
The Protestants had valid reason to condemn certain medieval church practices as outright simony.
The Church of the time liked their simony too much, so the split was inevitable. When the Church fixed most of those issues (semi-illiterate priests, the selling of indulgences) at Trent, the split was already irreconcilable.
And don't get me started on the tyrannical and anti-ecumenical dogma of papal infallibility, which is outright idolatry of man. That blatant power grab caused yet another split (the Old Catholics)... In the 19Th century!
The Catholic church has committed abuses. Each time, there's been a split. I want to be fair to the RCC: They fix most of those schism-creating issues in a century or so.
When they do, though, the split has created wounds that won't be healed.
The Reformation and Counter-Reformation were both driven by a range of motives ... Luther's were essentially religious, Henry VIII's primarily political ... there just isn't a simple generalization that covers it all. But the suggestion that the medieval Catholic church somehow stood for 'stricter rules' is utterly bizarre. Have you ever actually read much of the history of Roman Catholicism? By which I mean not only from pro-Catholic sources ... I mean the kind of history that appears in peer-reviewed journals or in books written by academics and published by mainstream non-religious publishers.
Luther's intention was that people whose Christianity was "true" wouldn't necessarily have to follow all the dictates of Catholic moral teaching, because some of the teachings themselves were convoluted and contradictory. But ti didn't quite turn out that way. Protestantism's biggest sin is the sin of presumption--that is, salvation is often considered a "once and for all" action by God that can never be lost, regardless of the moral and spiritual condition of the individual upon death. And that repentance, though certainly welcomed isn't absolutely necessary. This view is held by a great many charismatic Protestants and "old school" Southern Baptists..
Rabi Jesus says in Matt. 5, that he is not here to start a new religion, but to fix the Jewish one. IF you read Acts you would read that the Christians met in the Synagogues "in the evenings". The Catholic church is no where in the Bible. And it lives for it lies.
It was not created until 305/6 by 29 men that did not like all the effort it took/takes to be a Christian. So they decided to create their own. For in the same Matt. 5 ^ Jesus requires us to remember all of the 613 Commandments that God gave to Moses! They eliminated most of them and a lot more of the Bible. They do not even teach the Second Commandment that requires us all to pray ONLY to God. The Catholic church teaches people to pray to many, even their saints and dead parents...
When the printing press was invented and the Bible was printed for people to read in local languages, people discovered that they were being lied to a lot by the Catholic church! So the new Protestant churches came to be so they could worship God the way we are required too!
Today many have dropped the original beliefs or only follow some. But many are far above the Catholic church. The catholic church even still often have the symbol of the sun in them to attract people that believe that the sun is a god to them. The sun should not be in any of them. Jesus requires us to decide between "God and money". The Catholic church wants money more than truth of God in it. Greed!
Can you believe in truth? Are you willing to read the Bible and find the truth?
purely-- no, partially yes on both counts. there were many additional "rules" and "regulations" that were based in the 7 books they removed. HOWEVER there WERE some corrupt bishops at the time who abused their "power" and were kind of the straw that broke Martin's back.
Most of the early breaks from Rome were for political reasons
Chris@what a windbag. You do not have any kind of imagination. same basic answer to every question. I am surprised you have not been sued for copyright infringement. drink a glass of warm milk and go Biddy by. You have had a long day of cut and paste. Tell you mommy to take the scissors away from you. You might do everybody a favor and hurt yourself.
Susanna@ You seem to be preoccupied with worshiping on Saturday. I think you have developed some type of fetish. About Saturday being the only day to worship on or El's you go to church on your sabbath not to worship and praise God but to worship the day.
In a way, that's a good summary of what happened, but like all good summaries, it's too simplistic.
The Church was pretty corrupt in the 1500s when Martin Luther broke away from it. At that time in history, it was way more political than religious. Priests and bishops were pretty much politically appointed positions, especially in Germany and Italy.
Luther's mistake was in assuming he could set up a whole new "church" like Jesus did. I'm not judging him at all; I probably would have done something similar in his position. The Church would have been so much better served if he would have stayed in its pale and worked for reform.
Henry Tudor is different; he wanted to divorce his wife for political reasons, and for political reasons, the Pope Clement VII told him no. Ergo, the Church of England.
~~~~~ Do not listen to Chris/David/ he's NOT a pastor he's a SPAMMER
HE HAS NO REAL ANSWERS just scripture taken out of context and SPAMMED.
HE IS TRYING TO WORK HIS WAY TO HEAVEN BUT IS DELIVERING A FALSE MESSAGE OF EASY BELIEFISM AND THEREFORE A FALSE HOPE.
2Corinthians 11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.
2Corinthians 11:14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
2Corinthians 11:15 So it is not strange if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.
~~~~~Just Believing in Jesus is not enough or demons would be saved.
James 2:19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.
Luke 4:41 Demons also were coming out of many, shouting, "You are the Son of God!" But rebuking them, He would not allow them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.
EVEN JESUS TELLS US TO DO GOOD WORKS!!
Matthew 5:16 "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
James 2:24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.
no we do not go against but rather for Christ by not following this church's teachings and practices. and you would be wise to look into the Scriptures, the Holy Living WORD of God to us:-) and also read your own churches "words" below. I pray you truly desire to serve Jesus and not "man" :-)
Jesus IS the Rock, Peter (in Greek = pebble).. the catholic peoples are taught and all boast of Peter being the 1st "pope" he would very interested in seeing what your church has done to the Truth found in God's Holy Living Word, Exodus 20:4-5 / Matthew 6:6-7 /John 16:23/ 1 Peter 2:9.....Mark 16:16 / Acts 2:38/Matthew 28:20....Ecclesiastes 9:5/ Psalm 115:7 / Acts 2:29-34...Rev. 20:9/2 Peter 3:10 / Malachi 4:1/John 3:16....Matthew 24:27/Rev/ 1:7/ Thess. 4:16....1 Corinthinans 6:1-9, 20 / Proverbs 20:1, 23:29-33/Isaiah 5:22...John 2:9-10/Genesis 1:29 / Genesis 7:1-2...Isaiah 66:15-17/Romans 12:1..Acts 10:9:17 and Acts 10:28.....also Rev. 18:4 Jesus speaking...
the church tried to change The Lord's Day Sabbath to sun day. as Daniel said they would "think to change times and laws" (Daniel 7:25) No one can actually change God's law, they only 'think' they were doing it. The converts catechism Doctrine pg. 50 tells us this"Question: which day is the Sabbath day?" Answer: Saturday is the Sabbath Day. Question: why do we observe Sunday? Answer: because the church changed the day from Saturday to Sunday.: There has been NO command from Jesus, the disciples, or in the Bible to keep any other day but the 7Th Day Sabbath of Jesus. the RCC church however, has declared it is above the Bible and has established her own mark of authority and allegiance-a counterfeit Sabbath. "Of course, the Catholic church claims that the change was her act. And that act is a mark of her ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters." James Cardinal Gibbons.
Another statement: Sunday is our mark of authority...the church is above the Bible, and this transference of the Sabbath observance is proof of that fact.: Catholic Record, London Ontario, Sept. 1, 1923. On May 31, 1998 John Paul II issued an Apostilic Letter called Dies Domini - The Lords Day. Section 67 says "Christians will naturally strive to ensure civil legislation respects their duty to keep Sunday holy.
