Why is it that Rangers, Protestantism, Orangism is based on such hatred towards?

Catholicism, Celtic, The Irish...........why is your whole state of being, to hate these things. We do not hate you, but you hate us, why?

It's just the way things are in Glasgow, most of the UK can't really understand it.

Rangers were founded in 1874 & Celtic in 1888, which gives 'Gers a 14 year start over Celtic. Legend has it that they started out as a non-sectarian club, and only acquired a Protestant following on the foundation of Celtic, as a response to their Irish immigrant/Catholic following. There seems to be have been no encouragement from the blues to acquire a Protestant support either, and that following could just as easily have attached themselves to Clyde, Partick Thistle, Queens Park, or Third Lanark.

And think of this: From 1874 to 1888, Rangers may well have had a fair number of Catholic followers!!!

Hate? It is ignorance. Most religions (including Catholics and Protestants) tell you "It's My Way Or The Highway".

And some Catholics DO HATE Protestants. Millions of Protestants have been killed by Catholics.

So I'd say i don't hate Catholics as a general term, only individual ones such as the Pope who rules with no accountability. Sorta like the Queen but the Pope has more power and more views i disagree strongly with

They are not based on "hatred" its just that some people who follow them are haters. Its not Rangers fault. As Badjeet says the protestant following attached themselves to Rangers in response to the emergence of a Catholic side in Glasgow. Such tensions existed in society already before the formation of either football club. Hopefully this "summit" between the clubs and Alex Salmond can look at ways of reducing the number of "haters" on both sides. Perhaps by taking a more proactive stance against those who sing about terrorism etc at both clubs.

My girlfriend is a real catholic. She's practiced in Ireland, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Manila and everywhere she goes she's taught to tolerate and understand other religions and non religious people. Only a false prophet would teach that other religions are wrong. Its a sin to judge others for anything, especially their beliefs, if they are pure.
