Default Bells and Whistles Christianity. Is that what Protestantism is today?

Is it becoming a feel good or find another?

I'm Jewish, and I've been to both Catholic and Protestant services (I was raised Protestant, and my best friend is Catholic). If anybody has "bells and whistles," I'd definitely have to say it's the Catholics, at least in my experience. Either way, why do you care? If you don't like it, don't go there.

I could sure use one of those 72-oz steaks right about now, though, Amarillo ;-)

Christ came to Earth to set us free from our sins. If you have trusted in Christ as your savior, why not feel good. If you attend a church that leaves you feeling bad after you leave then that is just going to worsen your relationship with the Lord, not strengthen it. If you attend a Biblically based church then you should feel good. If your church is not a Bible based one, then you need to find another.

I guess that would explain the 20,000 some odd sects that entail Protestantism.

Protestantism is what your pastor says it is. If you disagree, find another church. If you don't like the band, find another church. If you don't feel all warm and fuzzy after a service, find another church. Arch. Forgive me, but it just seems that protestantism fosters a weak form of spirituality, which basically does promote a 'if it feels good, do it' type of mentality. In other words, it forms a selfish spirituality. Yes, God wants us to draw closer to Him and yes that does naturally 'feel' good; but our motivation in growing closer to Jesus ought to be so that we can become better instruments to do His will on Earth and as such glorify Him. We are to die to ourselves, remember? We are to carry the Cross, remember? We need to stop trying to figure out how to please ourselves. Rather, we ought to start trying to figure out how to please God by discerning His will for us and then doing it.
