Default What's the difference between Protestantism and Irish Protestantism?

The reason I'm asking is an old friend recently said he was an Irish protestant and well, that basically confused me because I never knew there was a difference. That's the only reason I'm asking.

Aren't Irish protestants mainly Anglican? Or am I missing something here?

I take it that you are referring to the political party that wishes to keep Northern Ireland part of the U.K., rather than the religious denomination known as the Anglican (I.E.: Episcopalian) church.

Irish Protestants know how to build IED's.

Or was that Catholics? I get confused.

When I was in Europe long ago there were only two choices. Evangelical ( Protestant)
or Catholic.
I don't really think Religious choice has that much to do with their troubles.
but rather a lack of God in their lives.
