Default why is roman catholicism the most common religion in Mexico?

I have no clue on what the reason is, so help me thanks in advance!

Well, the area was colonized by the Spanish. At that time, Spain was the military arm of the Roman Catholic church. So it was kind of official policy for the Spanish government that if you were a resident and you weren't Catholic, you were unlikely to live that long.

That and nearly driving the old cultures to extinction.

Yep, my ancestors were pretty big jackasses. Then again, every nation's got stuff like that to be 'proud' of.

1. Mexico was settled by the Spanish who were Catholic and exactly like Muslim they ordered the peasants to convert or die.
2. Most of the protestant cults had not been invented yet.

The same reason they speak Spanish. They were colonized by Spain, which has always been (and continues to be) an incredibly Catholic country. The Protestant Reformation largely bypassed Spain entirely.

When the Spanish conquered the area, they forced all of the natives to convert. Today the country is mostly made up of mixed blood native and Spanish people who have remained Catholic.

missionaries from Spain when they took over the area spread (forced) Catholicism (along with disease and other unkind things)
