They are not idols, but there is some respect. Like the person who helps you a lot, you are thankful.

a lot of people THINK that Roman Catholics worship Saints, Idols and the Pope. Its NOT TRUE. its not correct to do so and we do NOT worship saints, idols, images etc
We do ask saints to intercede for us. IE. we ask them to ask God for something for us. The theory being that the saints are so good - God wont deny them anything.
remember one becomes a Saint only after having interceded twice successfully

According to the definition of idol worship, one can consider saints to be such.

It is funny how far the Roman Catholic faith has strayed from their founding beliefs.

my dad's a preacher. he used to tell me that Catholics had fleas. it's a sin to worship saints. but i don't think saints are idols. i think they're tools used to help better direct your meditative prayers or something.

Roman Catholics do not worship saints. That is a common misconception among people who just want a reason to despise Catholics.

Have you ever asked someone to pray for you? Do you believe some of the dead go to heaven after they die? Among Catholics, the souls in heaven are known as "saints" and sometimes people ask them to pray for them.

Saints can become idols. Saints can be called upon when the sinner is scared to call on Jesus Himself.
This is wrong and is never to be encouraged.
Saints made it their lives' work to walk in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ their Creator. They would certainly have us do the same.
Speaking about Jesus, Mary, the God-bearer, said, "Whatever He Sayer unto you, do it."
Great advice!
God bless.
This is an Orthodox Christian response.

It is a sin to worship anything other than God. It is a sin to pray to anyone other than God. The only one can atone you is God. The only way to be Baptiste's is through Jesus your savior, you must except him in your heart.
I am not catholic and can not understand why they break the the commandments right inside their churches as you walk in the door. Read the ten commandments and learn!
I also believe you should not judge something you don't understand therefore the catholic faith is not one I can judge.

It appears to many that they do since they talk to them and ask favors. Any worship of anyone other than Jehovah through Jesus his son is sinful, and foolish since the prayer is worthless. Sinful because prayer is made for God's attention. And foolish because since it is misdirected, a waste of time.

Saints are not idols. We don't actually worship Saints.

From Wikipedia:
Saints are seen as models of holiness to be imitated, and as a 'cloud of witnesses' that strengthen and encourage the believer during his or her spiritual journey (Hebrews 12:1). The saints are seen as elder brothers and sisters in Christ, and just as believers may ask their fellow brothers and sisters on earth for intercessory prayer, the prayers of the saints in heaven can be requested as well.

My comment:

To those Abie who are so fast to accuse us of idolatry, perhaps you should do some research before you speak.

It is probably a sin to worship saints, but Catholics don't do that.

Instead, Catholics believe in what is known as the "communion of saints". The Bible states that there is a "great cloud of witnesses" watching people on Earth, and it is thought that the saints are indeed watching mankind, and are in a unique position to act as intercessors. No saint is worthy of worship, which is reserved for God alone, but they are considered worthy of reverence and emulation. One prays WITH the saints, not to them.

Well the bible states that god prohibits idols, and he is a jeolous god, that wants all the devotion to him only...but let me tell you.....would you talk to a stone or a piece of wood, or a piece of metal? Would it make sense to talk to them? Only a crazy person would do it, most idols have eyes, ears, mouth, nose, feet, hands, but can they see, hear, speak, smell, move, or clap....nope, so how can you or someone else, ask for help or pray to it. Catholics do worship idols, but because their priest say so, but not because they follow the bible's commands....another questions will be, what happens when we die, where do we go, do we go to heavens or hell, does hell exists, who goes to heavens, how many, and why only that amount of people...want answers, get jehovahs' witnessess help you find the answers....and more...

Revelation 22:8 ?And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
9 ?Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

Angelic Spirits have a profound effect on mortal men. We must accept that the Angels are greater than us. Yet, even a good Angel will protest worship that is not to THE GLORY OF GOD. All Worship, praise, and glory to THE GREAT I AM, OUR GOD, OUR FATHER, OUR CREATOR.

yes.
yes.
yes.
The 1o Commandments say not to make any images or likenesses of living things. This is a blatant disregard for the 10 Commandments.

My dad died 8 years ago.
He was a man that was a craftsman of all trades.
He did everything himself.
I am like him. But when I get to a spot that is a problem I ask for his help. And usually the answer comes.
I do not pray to my dad. I ask for help like I did when he was here.
It gives me comfort that his presence is still felt.
Same way with saints.

No satins are not idols, and it would be a sin to worship a Saint, ( Catholics do not worship saints, they merely honor and ask for them to intercede)

No they do not, they ask for intercession of saints, in the same way others would ask a prayer group at a church to pray for them, you are not worshiping that prayer group when you ask them to pray for you, so why would asking a saint to pray for you be considered worship
