any religion who recognizes Jesus Christ as the savior is a form of Christianity.
although there are many of both, that qualify as neither.

Absolutely - in fact it is one of the first stems of Christianity: Protestantism etc all stemmed originally from Catholicism

I think they consider themselves Christians. My understanding is that the core belief of Christianity is that Jesus is the Lord and Savior and the only path to the Kingdom of God. So if they believe that, ISO factor, they're a sect of Christianity.
