The term "catholic" means "universal".
The church is actually rightly named the Roman Catholic Church.
Any who take issue with that are ignorant.

Well, the world catholic means on the whole... So the Catholic Church is the General church so some UN-roman catholic churches like orthodox churches say that they also are General. and we are Roman catholic.

Yes. Roman is just one of over 20 rites within the Catholic Church. It is disrespectful to Eastern Catholics to refer to them or the Catholic Church as "Roman".

Yes, Catholic does in deed mean universal. But it has lost that meaning, hasn't it? Without the Roman in front of the title- no one would know that one was referring to the organization whose head is the Pope, whose headquarters are in Rome, would they?

That organization is a unique one isn't it? They also refer to themselves as "the Holy Mother Church". Which is surely not even Biblical- because the Bible plainly states that the Church is the Body of Christ, which is made up of all believers in Him. His Bride... his body- NOT any ones Mother.

I like the name, because it indicates that we believe the Pope as Bishop of Rome is the successor of St. Peter.

Catholic churches, as I understand it, have apostolic succession, while non-catholic ones do not... To differentiate from other catholic churches, it is tradition to use "Roman Catholic."

Nope, there is no problem. Maybe you don't understand the terms. Roman Catholic Church is the correct term and there is nothing wrong with it. You might be interested to learn there are about two dozen other branches of the Catholic Church who are our brothers and sisters. We are all united although we have some traditions that vary a bit.
