I was brought up church of England and haven't been to Church for some years. I have recently started going to a Roman Catholic Mass in my local area and would like to join. Its hard to ask other people as during Mass nobody speaks to each other I am thinking of booking an appointment with the priest but don't really know how to go about this and I don't want to seem rude. Any sensible help would be appreciated thanks in advance x
Ask Tony Blair as he managed it and he will need all the help he gets when he gets to wherever he`s going as it will then be Judgement day that`s for sure!!
So you want to blindly conform to one of the most bloodiest and cruel organizations that has ever existed in human history, an organization that promotes homophobia and misogyny and teaches that protection is bad in parts of the world where millions of people are dying from AIDS? Congratulations...
The priest could be busy. Talk to one of the volunteer workers. He or she will be glad to assist you. There are so many of them like wardens. Those who usher you to seats, assisting the priest, etc. You could also go to see the priest during the "slack" time of the day.
You're going to a church where no one speaks to you and you want to join? Is it because it's your local parish? Have you attended any of their social events?
I'd ask the priest after service or call their office and set up an apt. for spiritual counseling. Or, pick out a friendly face and start talking to them or attend mass at a different time to see if you can find some nice people to talk to about the church.
I would also consider visiting other churches, not just Catholic or Church of England, before making such a big decision.
Call the priest on the phone and make an appointment he will guide you from there. Also you can wait until everyone leaves after Mass and talk to him then if you want.
Yellow pages or, if you have access to it, contact any random entry from the sex offenders register and I'm sure they can arrange everything for you. Officially, the Catholic Church is by far the biggest network of pederast crime rings in the world and has been so for centuries.
You're correct. No one speaks to each other during Mass. Mass is a solemn event and not a social gathering. However, there should be many people to talk to after Mass. The priest, for instance, always stands by the door and shakes hands on the way out. You could ask him then.
To become a Catholic, you would talk to a local priest or deacon and you would be scheduled to join that parish's RCIA program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). RCIA varies somewhat from parish to parish and differs from non-Catholic Christians and non-Christians, but the basic idea is that it's a discernment process. Basically, you join the program and lean about the Catholic faith. If at any time, it doesn't feel "right", you can stop going. After you've been in the program a while (it varies from person to person by usually 6 months to 2 years), you can then choose to join into Communion with the Church.
