Why would Jesus say "My Kingdom is not of this world", but then set up the Politcal R
If Jesus' kingdom is not of this world, why was the RCC of the Middle Ages sure ruling like they were god's kingdom??
"we need an earthly Church to guide us"
See that's what I'm talking about, Jesus left it at my kingdom is not of this world. Period.
If you want a religion that is closer to what Jesus taught, look up Mandaeans or Gnostics. Catholicism is generally based on Paul's teachings, not Jesus's.
Jesus did not set up the Roman catholic church, that was established by the evils Romans and reestablished by the evil Emperor Charlemagne, and then by the evil Normans.
All non Roman Catholics find it incredibly difficult to equate the behavior of the papacy with anything remotely Christian. In fact very little that the Roman church preaches has anything to do with what even their own bible teaches. It is also unarguable that the Roman Catholic church has committed more genocides than any other organization in history. It is an organization which thrives on hatred, fear and guilt, Jesus spoke mostly of love, forgiveness and understanding.
When people look at Christianity they often see only the visible church. Christ is the head of the church, visible and invisible, which includes the saints (the saved) in heaven and any OT those undergoing purification before their entry into heaven. Men rule the imperfect visible church, and so it is burdened with the faults of mankind.
Many think that there should be a general council to reform the way the church is governed. I have heard some say that the cardinals and the curia should be dismissed. Maybe all the bishops in the world should be the electors of the bishop of Rome. That would be more democratic. Why should all the popes be Italian or European? I think we need a Brazilian or American or Canadian Pope. Or why not an African or Asian Pope. In 1500 Mateo Ricci, a Portuguese Jesuit, went to China as a Christian missionary. He tried to get Rome to permit the mass said in Chineese. They said no. Later, at the Council of Trent it was recommended that the mass was to be said in the vernacular. 500 years later at Vatican II it finally happened. What fools we mortals be.
Jesus never set up the roman Catholics church, Jesus church is of Jew and gentile people that have come to him through faith in his completed work at the cross, and he has raised them to life with him all are chosen to come to hm by faith in his completed work at the cross but few will believe, what is his completed work at the cross. where he died to take away the sins of the whole world never to see them again and is now offering life to all that do come to him.
