Default Do Tamil Christians or Tamil Roman Catholics have a caste system?

I am a Tamil Hindu of Vellalar descent. Although I don't care about caste systems, my parents do. My boyfriend for 2 years is Roman Catholic and I don't know how to bring up this subject as its quite offensive. But what are the castes of Tamil Roman Catholics as I know the were originally Hindu before they converted to Catholicism or Christianity during the time Sri Lanka and India were ruled by different dynasties?

Officially, no. Culturally maybe.

Officially any caste system go against the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church but people are influenced by the culture in which they live,

With love in Christ.

yes Tamil Christians do have caste system , though we have converted from Hinduism , still caste system does stick with people , because case and religion are different ,
cast is a identity for a group of tribes who are bound with same kind of occupation or belong to same origin of village or territory . though we now became modern and spread all around the world, still we identify our self with cast ,
i am roman catholic Tamil , and i am Valhalla too . Valhalla identify people who engaged in agriculture as their occupation , Valhalla is just the cast, there are even sub cast for it, if you dint have then your parents or great grand parents would have forgot to spread it to the next generation , and lost the sub caste identity in time of history ..
i am Jodi-kal Valhalla - basically these people were involved in agriculture of betel leaves , and origin of amalgalyammamil nadu , now i live in Kuwait , though if i marry a girl of same cast who is living in London , its pretty sure that their great grand parents, and my great grand parents would have shared same village and would have had blood relation even .

if your parents dont know all these information , then there is no use for you to hold your cast ,question them . tell them there is no use of holding case system in this century , and make them understand .
