Default Isn't it interesting that Roman Catholic and Orthodox get along so well?

Inspired by this question.

In the question above, both groups made their case for why they love their church without denigrating the other party.

I'm Roman Catholic. Even though we have major theological differences and our schism dates to 1054, in spite of our differences, we handle each other with love. I think that is awesome!

BTW, orthodox, other than papal authority, what do you think the biggest hurdle to reconciliation is? Or maybe we are better not reconciled?

It is =D I am a Russian Orthodox.

Other then Papal Authority, mass in the Catholic church would have to be changed. Mass was rewritten in the 1600's for the Catholic church, making it longer and done differently. Before the two churches can reunited, the Catholic church will have to go back to the originally mass

While neither Roman Catholic or Orthodox, but Protestant, I believe one of the actual strengths of Christianity is its diversity in unity. When you look at the ecumenical creeds we all really agree on a great deal. The differences that are cultural and stylistic are absolutely fine. When you read the New Testament you read of a great deal of diversity in the first century. So enjoy the difference and just love each other as we were commanded.

What's so interesting about it? Catholicism and Orthodoxy are the two branches of Christianity. Our schism is political rather than doctrinal. As Christians, we do not denigrate each other or anybody else..

As a new Catholic I find it refreshing. So much nicer than the Catholic bashing I tend to see from the Protestants.

I don't know about that because I encountered some Orthodox on line saying that Catholics are protestants because they protested against Orthodoxy.
