Okay, took me a little bit to figure out what you were referring to, but I've got it now. What you call the "Mass of Death" and the "Mass of Life" actually refers to two different ways of doing Catholic funerals. Before Vatican II, the priest wore black vestments at a funeral. This was, of course, a sign of death and of mourning. Since Vatican II, the priest has been been permitted to wear white instead, and many do. White is a sign of resurrection and joy. The post-Vatican II Mass encourages a different perspective on death; it is not an ending but a beginning. Other than that, I think the differences are the same as with any Prue/post VII Mass - Latin/Vernacular, ad orient um/apsidum, Eucharist on the tongue/in the mouth, etc. A wider variety of music was permitted, and I imagine that was reflected in the funeral Mass as well.
