Jesus was neither a Christian nor a Roman Catholic. To be Christian, means to follow Christ... and Jesus did not follow himself. Rather, he defined Christianity. He was not a Roman Catholic either, however, he started the Church...His Church...
Jesus was the Jewish Messiah.
He founded the Catholic Church by choosing St Peter to be its first leader. After Jesus died, St Peter became the first Bishop of Rome and head of the Catholic Church.
The term Roman Catholic was a name given to Christ's Church by those protesting Christ's Church because they could no longer endure sound doctrine. this was done in the 16Th century primarily by the Church of England. Until then the Church was always known as the Catholic Church from the first century. The faithful in the Catholic Church have always been known as Christian being first referred to as Christians in Antioch and first called Catholic in Antioch as well by the third bishop of Antioch st Ignatius. In the first century all Christians were Catholic Christians as there were no others until the 15Th century. Jesus was probably an Old Covenant Essene Jew. Perfected Judaism is Christianity of the New Covenant. All Christians were Catholic Christians and you can read about them in the New Testament which is about the first Catholic Christians. God bless!
Neither. Christ was Christ. A Christian is one who follows the discipline of Christ, but the church could not be in effect until after His death and resurrection. The Roman Catholic church departed from the example in the New Testament around 600 AD.
The interesting thing about the fact that Jesus, or Yeshua, was not a Christian is not so much that he was a Jew, or that Christianity didn't exist yet, or that he couldn't follow himself etc. (I think) the interesting thing is that Christianity (in his name) proclaims a gospel that he didn't teach.
