Default Is there a difference between being Roman Catholic and just Catholic?

Or is it the same thing?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but i don't know much about this religion and it is something i have always wondered about.

Thanks.

Both should be avoided.

They are one and the same. Keep your children away from the priests, they're pedophiles.

Basically the same thing, roman refers to the Latin rite in the church, other rites include Syrian, byzantine etc. Rites are a tradition, 90% of catholics belong to the Latin rite.

The actual name of the church is "One holy catholic and apostolic church".

Here's what I was told once, I don't know if it's true. The appendage "Roman" was prefixed to the word "Catholic" as a pejorative by the Prods during the Reformation. At any rate I prefer the term Latin-rite Catholic, because the other rites; Chaldean, Coptic, Armenian, etc. are also in communion with Rome. It just seems a bit egotistic to single out one rite and call it Roman.
For all intents and purposes the two terms are synonymous.

The Bible= Catholicism, Christianity, Javas witnesses, Calvinists, Judaism etc etc.. the original does not exist.. and they all claim to have "the bible", Jesus never said nor did Mary worship me before the Lord and when I pray face statues of us and pray thinking of us ?? If you want to be closer to God then who better to follow the footsteps in than his messengers, they were on the wright path and favored by him.. Read the Bible.. which ever version, the yr all corrupt, if you want truth, the old testiment in the hebrew version which the jews still have, contains somthing they dont tell people, in the catholic and christian bible they say a prophet will come, he is all together lovley.. but there's a name instead of calling him all together lovley.. the jewish scripture in solomon, has THE name of that man and his name is MOHAMMED. Mohammed was a 25 years old, working for his wife Hadija that was older than him, Mohammed was gentle in his actions, always honet and trust worthy, every one who knew him said they never knew any one like him before or after him. One night like many knights he went for some alone time up in the mountain to pray, the Angel Gabriel visited him.... he ran out shaking and petrafied to his wife he thought he was being possessd, his sister in law was a christian who took him to a jewish rabbi for answers, he said Mohammed you are a Prophet your name is fortold write here in our scriptures... Half the Jews of Medina-a town near his converted to Islam NATURALLY, but the rest of the Jews.. followed their corrupt book, they ignored Moses and denied Jesus.. so how could most of them then accept any one else after them? Jesus never said he would be the last, Mohammed could neither read nor write but he spoke what God told him to and his followers had the Quran written, which "coincedentley" is 75% of the Bible, im going to give you some info, its up to you if you choose to beleive or not.. I was a christian and raised christian all my life, UNTILL I READ THE BIBLE:-
YOUTUBE... Prophet Mohammed (his biography-how he gave womens wrights to divorce, marry who they choose ect), The Arrivals pt 27(about the occult-devil worshippers&mind control through media).

Roman Catholicism is the Latin rite of Catholicism. The vast majority of people who consider themselves to be Catholic are Roman Catholic, but there are several other rites less known. For example, there are Byzantine Catholics - the Eastern rite of Catholicism. Their services tend to be more similar in style to the Eastern Orthodox Churches.

When someone refers to themselves as Catholic, they typically would mean the Catholic Church. However, it also could be 'catholic' with a lowercase 'c', which refers means universal. For example, the word 'catholic' is used in the Nicene creed - which is upheld by many Churches and denominations ("And we believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic church").

Roman Catholics refers to the Latin or western rite of the Church. Catholic refers to all 22 rites of the church. The Western rite is the largest of the Catholic rites. All the other rites are considered Eastern rites. However and Eastern rite Catholic can go to a Western rite mass and a Western rite catholic can go to an Eastern rite divine liturgy because they are in communion with one another.

There are actually different types of Catholicism. Between these types, there are differences in doctrine. However, the biggest difference is that other types of Catholicism like Orthodox Catholic do not recognize the power of the pope.

Similarity, however, is that all claim to be founded by Christ.

You can read this kipped regarding the split of the Christian Church:
