Default In the 20th Century the major criminal groups in the US were all Roman Catholic;?

the Italians, the Irish, the Hispanics and the Poles: whilst the law abiding groups, the English, the German and the Nordic people were protestant in origin. Can anyone explain why this might be?
I do not understand the "racism" jibe but then, as it comes from people who can't spell, who could be expected to. It cannot be racist to point out that RC's provided the majority of the criminal groups in the 20Th C. To prove my anti-racist credentials I will point out that blacks did not become major crimes until the very end of the 20Th C and that is why I did not include them; they were mainly protestant, however.

Hitler was a Roman Catholic.
Organized crime groups, or New York gangsters were Italian-Catholics.
The English ruled over India enforcing harsh racism.

Economic differences. Poverty breeds crime, and at the time most Irish immigrants were very poor (they came here because of severe economic troubles and famine in Ireland). The Poles were also a poorer class of immigrants, much poorer than the English, German, and Nordic people. The Italians? Mafia connections.

That's just my guess. It could be wrong.

Hmmmm... Hells Angels are a major criminal group: not RC.

Russian Mafia is Orthodox: not RC.

Chinese organized crime groups aren't even Christian!

The English could be RC, Protestant, or even Episcopal, which is a bit of both.

I am not fully aware of US criminal gangs, but I do not think your assessment is entirely accurate.

Here are some of my thoughts:

!!

The 'English' ( Anglos) came to America to escape religious persecution but religion was never a barrier to exploiting and exterminating the Native American peoples. The first structures that went up where banks not churches. Signing treaties they never intended to hon our, they stole the native land and brought in the slaves for free lab our.
They exploited their perceived 'inferiors' ( people civilized for many thousands of years) to build the infrastructure and railroads.
And now they consider millions of people who do jobs in America that Americans don't want to do, criminals.
Hitler carried a Jewish bloodline but chose a version of religion that suited his purpose when he authorized the final solution.

The Polish people are only one of many, many national/ethnic groups that were traumatized by the final solution and came to America in the 20Th century to start new lives.

I noticed that you did not comment on the molestation of children all over the U.S. by catholic priests.
