Faith had nothing to do with it. Just coincidence and a whole lot of luck, but to explain why one is 96% Roman Catholic, here is why...

Venezuela existed in prehistoric times long before Christopher Columbus discovered it on August 1, 1498. He named it Isla DE Garcia. It wasn't named Venezuela until a year later by another expedition led by Alfonso DE Ojeda came back to it a year later. The discoverers were all Catholic so the land was colonized by Catholics since then, but the oil was there even before that.
