Why Islam surpasses Roman Catholicism to become the largest single religion in the wo

VATICAN CITY - Islam has surpassed Roman Catholicism as the world's largest religion, the Vatican newspaper .

"For the first time in history, we are no longer at the top: Muslims have overtaken us," Monsignor Vittorio Formenti said in an interview with the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano. Formenti compiles the Vatican's yearbook.

He said that Catholics accounted for 17.4 percent of the world population ? a stable percentage ? while Muslims were at 19.2 percent.

What do you think ? It is due to population explosion in Muslims or because Islam is the fastest growing religion today?

Or is it because Muslims still maintain a semblance of family life,? Or there is no racism in Islam or it offers more just an economic system than blindly following capitalism?

Or it is because Quran has not changed at all in 1400 years and it has all the makings of a Book from God?

Or life model of Muhammad is more complete than any other prophet ?

Its fun to make babies. As far as converts to Islam are concerned, it is their choice. Arab countries are actually not that populated.

People would blame birth rate.

The reason birth rate have gone down among christian is that church failed to stop Christians from becoming hedonist and sex-cent red. Where as Islam did not failed.

The absurdities in Islam are not as evident as the ones in Catholicism specifically, or Christianity generally. One has to look to find them -- which requires time and training that most people don't have.

It has to do with the birthrate among the two persuasions.

Well, I have seen the news as well. It could be for a large number of reasons. It is still the fastest growing religion in the world. I, myself, converted to Islam about 6 years ago. Arabs tends to have many children, possible. But certainly not all families. Islam is pure and when practiced the right way, is very peaceful and a beautiful religion. One should definitely look into it and learn from the beginning, and not only overhear what the news or Anti-Islamic people have to say about it. There is an obvious reason why it is the fastest growing religion in the world. I have never thought by being Muslim, I would feel so good with myself and my surrounds. Islam changed my life, and to the best.

The fact that there are more Muslims than Catholics does not mean there are more Muslims than Christians. And a lot of the increase in Muslim population is because of modern life, which allows fewer people to starve, so population growth is more possible for them.

More people are converting to Islam, especially in European couturiers i.e. France but also in Australia and U.S. as I understand.

I think after 9/11 propaganda Islam should have reduced. Dont forget that many wars in last few decades have killed lots of Muslims in Iraq,afghanista,chechnya,bosnis,palestine,kashmir etc. But still its amazing to see that Islam is indeed the fastest growing religion.
