I know they see it as something that is unnatural and sinful. But haven't they stated that homosexual desires or attractions themselves are not necessarily sinful? How do they see young people that are homosexuals that haven't had sexual acts? I have nothing against the Roman Catholic Church nor God. I have faith in God and believe in him in my own way.
i actually attend a Catholic high school so i have a little background in this area. from everything i have learned the Catholic Church believes that the homosexual act is sinful, but just having homosexual desires is not. thus, being gay isn't 'technically' a sin, but if you ever want to have an intimate relationship with someone as a gay person then you will be, in their eyes, a sinner. this is a tough point for me because like you i have faith in God and believe in him in my own way, but being in the Catholic school environment has been pretty hard for me. hope that answered your questions somewhat.
Lol: I just stole Imacatholics answer, but he's here anyhow now.
They want us to try to live a life like any single Catholic, holy and chaste.
Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.
The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.
The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."

Do not allow yourself to be influenced by religions which promote homophobia as "love" or "morality." The fact of the matter is that the only thing that counts is what God thinks. God's thoughts on the issue will not be found in a handful of mistranslated, misinterpreted Bible verses used to justify homophobia. I urge you to study and research what these verses actually mean. There are many resources including books and on line ones for doing that.
Keep in mind that the Jewish prophets never condemned homosexuality nor did Jesus. I feel better going with Jesus on this issue than people whose real motive is promoting the anti-gay agenda.
Having been Roman Catholic my entire life and having graduated from a Roman Catholic seminary...let me say that the Roman Catholic church loves the person but hates the sin. Being homosexual is not a sin, acting on homosexual thoughts and desires is sinful. Personally, I don't buy it for a second. I am also gay and I know what I have experienced in life...there never was a moment that I had a 'choice' to be gay or not. And, if homosexuality is present at birth, or genetic, it is natural...thereby becoming non-sinful.

They teach that being homosexual is not a sin but "disordered". They believe that the practice of homosexuality (love) is sin full and intrinsically evil and that homosexuals, due to their "inclination" have a built in tendency to evil. They believe that same sex love is in no way true love and not even similar to hetero love. The Catholic Medical Association believes that being gay is a curable condition and not part of the divine plan, despite what the American association of Phsyciatrists and Physcologists as well as virtual all of the other professional mental health associations, who also say that being homosexual is neither a disorder nor mental illness. They also support the full civil rights of homosexuals whereas the Vatican does not and that healthy same sex relationships pose absolutely no threat to the to the health and well being of homosexuals and society and that the various "Ex Gay" groups pose a major threat to their mental health and well being. The RCC has an organization called "Courage" that claims to help gays live celibate lives in accordance with church teachings but in reality it is just a group that thinks that gays can be changed and if they want to will refer them to "Ex Gay" groups and that being gay is a "Disorder". On a personal note I believe that they mean well but they are the very wrong in their teachings about homosexuals and not only suffer from an ingrained homophobia but due to their religious beliefs are responsible for the lions share of the homophobia that homosexuals suffer from.
