Default What's the difference between Voodoo and Santeria? Or are they the same thing?

Now come on, beautiful girl with the glasses...I didn't want to go to Wikipedia, I wanted to ask you guys and get an answer from you guys (thanks for the star).

I think Santeria has both Voodoo and Catholic influences, but I am no expert on the subject. It probably would be better to ask someone who practices it or look it up on Wikipedia like the first answerer said.

VooDoo was started on the island of Haiti by the black slaves there. It is the blending of many traditions of many tribes which became and evolved as one religion. On Haiti, the slaves weren't indoctrinated into Christianity. Santeria (the way of the saints) was formed in a similar fashion, but those slaves were indoctrinated with Catholicism, so many Catholic elements are prevalent. It is believed that the Saints and many tribal Gods are one in the same in Santeria. Santeria is very esoteric so not as much is known about it's practices while VooDoo (a derivative of the original VouDoun of Haiti) is much more known about.

voodoo came from black people and Santeria came from Mexicans.
