Does anyone practice or know anything about the religion Santeria?

I have a friend that has some questions about this religion but she does not have Internet access,
My friend is worried because she knows someone who practices Santeria. This person got mad at her and supposedly put some curses on her. I don't believe in any of this and have told her that if she believes in God that he will protect her. She says that she believes in God but she is still scared of what might happen to her.

This is a religion based on the Catholic and Carribean/Haiti voodoo religion. It uses the saints and a mix of the Orisha or gods. They use animal sacrifice to appease or ask the gods or saints for help. The animals are killed humanely and the meat is eaten as part of the ritual.

its combination of Catholicism, and native mysticism, and resembles voodoo in many ways because it has no specific doctrine, found dominantly in Spanish speaking countries of the west

Try looking under Voodoo it is BASIicye same thing . Santiria is practiced mainly by puerto rican witch doctors ,but it is a mixture of southafrican Voodoo and puertorican black magic. Tell her to go to the library and read up on Voodoo I believe they even have books written about Santaria itself.

What you need to know is, it doesn't work.

Haiti and Cuba are the only third world countries in the Western Hemisphere. Hatians (who practice Voodoo, which is somewhat similar to Santeria) live in extreme poverty, their island is ravaged by AIDS. Cubans likewise live in poverty, and risk death to escape the haven for Santeria on homemade rafts (most dying try to do so).

Does it sound like it works for them? Why don't they just use their magic to get rich?

Because it doesn't work! Nothing about the occult works (other than to complicate your life and waste your time).
