Default What is the difference between Christianity and Santeria?

I saw a lady crossing herself as she was leaving her apartment this morning and couldn't help but think and laugh...

Christians have their cross, holy water, fuzzy explanations, and believe in supernatural invisible forces. Those who practice voodoo have their chickens, dolls, rituals and also believe in something that is apparently invisible and very hard to explain. I am sorry, I fail to see any major differences. Maybe you can help me understand how in the 21st century this kind of thing still exists...

Well you're describing behavior pretty much limited to Catholocism. The Bible warns against these things, but the Vatican made it OK to engage in ritualistic behavior. (otherwise known as orthodoxy). If I were the Catholic church, I would make it OK to drop this stuff.

okay, I practice Santeria and there is no voodoo involved with it, i don't walk around with chicken heads and voodoo dolls, people that do that are practicing black magic.
Santeria means to pray to saint, the exact same saints that the catholics pray to. people that practice Santeria are catholics and we believe in god, we don't worship the devil.

Both are are offshoots from the venerable Congolese idol Mumbo Jumbo. To be fair people who believe in Voodoo generally expect to see some sort of return on their investment of time and effort even if it is just a guy making bits of paper burst into flame. Christians on the other hand make a big play of faith which is the art of believing the absurd regardless of all evidence to the contrary. If Christians were to take the time and effort required to read and understand the bible (old testament of course) they would not be Christians. Instead they have to have the Bogus Bible (New testament) spoon fed to them by the previous generation of gullible sheep.

have you heard about karatOT
"Those who practice voodoo have their chickens"
hmmmm... are religious Jews practitioners of voodoo?

how can we justify it in 21st century ?
at least no chickens die when somebody crosses themselves...
I can not explain that which ultimately does not exist...
TYLER, which caused more suffering during 1939-1945?, true christians or SS? (No, Hitler, proclaimed himself not a christian, an ugly occultist, at best) nice try to have Mr Bean as a spokesperson for Christians...brilliant...
arbeit macht frei, nein ?

Because it's faith and faith is real. Sorry, but you know I am a Christian. And yes, there is a HUGE difference between Christianity and Santeria.

Besides, look into history. There has always been some form of religion.

You'll never be able to take it away, as hard you might wish it to be gone.
