santeria?!?!?

my friend is part of this religion and he never tells me about it and he wears all there's neck ales with colored beads and says there from his religion and its Santeria what is it really about?

It's a religion much like french voodoo. They have a set of deities called Orisha's, which originally came from the west African Yoruba religion. Like voodoo it synchronized the Yoruba religion with Roman Catholicism, thus creating Santeria. Santeria means the way of the saints, it was given to the slaves as a title to mock them, because they spent too much time praying to saints. The reason for this is because they had synchronized their gods with the saints of Christianity, and nowadays they worship their gods under the form of catholic saints.

It's a pagan religion that worships a variety of gods.

I'm pretty sure that Santeria is a form of paganism, akin to Wicca, if I'm not mistaken. It has roots in voodoo. I know there's more out there on this that Google could help you with.
