Is it witchcraft/santeria?

I just moved into a new apartment and there are crosses painted on every door in the house. It looks like they were painted in honey or something yellow like that. I figured that it was some sort of blessing ritual, but I'm curious to know what they are, especially since I can't clean them off no matter how much I scrub.

Paint thinner?

answer: not witchcraft. The cross isn't a protective symbol in witchcraft or pagan religions. Might be Santeria or a Christian working some protective "prayers".
