Default OK, cards on the table: If you'd like to see more religion in government, then how ab

It's practiced by growing numbers of Mexican immigrants, sort of a cross between Catholicism and voodoo, with worse music and uglier icons than Catholicism and creepier rituals than voodoo.

But, hey, it's a real religion and America needs more religion -- or so you believers keep telling us. So would you like to be governed by Santeria practitioners, or not? If not, why not?

I agree. Sounds good.

More religion - that's what they want - so we should get to pick which one, RIGHT???!!

I like the FSM or the Cult of Squirrel.

A friend of mine from PA practices Santeria and he is pretty politically astute. I'd vote for him if he ran.

Man will progress by shedding superstition, not by adopting new variants of it.

I'd like to see the day when a Santerian hands me a fl yer on the street, and when I refuse says "I'll pray for you...and spill some dove's blood over a clove of garlic."

I don't understand why Santeria's version of Creation doesn't get equal time in the classroom. It's only fair. You can't teach one theory and not the other.

That's a great point. One should not promote religion in government or in a situation that would be forced on others. I'm not sure of anyone who has said they wanted more religion in government, though. Perhaps by letting a government official profess his faith, that's what you mean?

It should be clear that the First Amendment does not say "no one in government can be religious," it just says that government can't tell someone else what to believe.
