No. Most African societies at the time that religion developed lacked a writing system, and so couldn't write a holy book. However, there were story tellers who hand down the basic beliefs.

A holy book for Santeria? From what I've heard wouldn't that be an oxymoron? To be fair, I guess it all depends on what you worship.

No. As one poster mentioned, many of the African religions were handed down verbally from generation to generation. Nonetheless, this religion is a very old and spiritual one with a rich background. Unfortunately, it has been misunderstood by those who don't know enough to research the background.

Some books or pamphlets have been written more like 'Instruction Books'. 'Rituals Books', 'Prayer Books' but these are not considered 'sacred'. These are sold in stores called 'botanic as', where other 'things' used by 'Santeria' and 'separatists' are sold. Santeria practices and beliefs have African origins and is still practiced in a more subtle form in many countries where Africans were brought to the New World. Santeria believes in Seven Powers or Spirits assigned to protect people. People mostly ask for material things like the winning lotto numbers, health, to put 'spells' on others, to gain influence over others. 'On-the-job-training' is one way of becoming 'Santeria' and knowledge is passed on to 'trainees' verbally. Being born with 'spiritual faculties' is another way of becoming a 'Santeria'. So really books are not needed to practice or follow this kind of spiritual belief. I am originally from Puerto Rico where 'Santeria' and 'esprit's' is still practiced by some people. What I have shared with you is stuff I heard from other people. I also had the opportunity to visit a 'botanic' store in Puerto Rico. (just to look around!!.)
