Ok she said her (Devout Christian) friend told her that Haiti got the earthquake because the majority of them practice Santeria and witchcraft and all that and God does not approve of that therefore he hit them with an earthquake.I was so mad and kinda shocked my mother agreed with that but I didn't know what to say.She said that its written in the Bible and blah blah blah.......does anyone have any opinions on this?also what would be a good way to prove her wrong or to make her feel ID......dumb.

It's religious makeup is 50?60% of the population is Catholic, 40% Protestant.

If i wasn't so tired I'd be laughing hysterically. What about the millions that don't practice witchcraft? They got the shaft on this one from god, didn't they? In Th bible, there is a story in Genesis 18 [read it] where God is thinking about destroying the city of Sodom. God's buddy Abraham is trying to convince him to reconsider. He says something like, "if there are only 50 good people, will you spare the city?" and God is all, "well, yeah i guess." And then Abraham haggles him down to 10 good people. Clearly God has a soft spot for good people. Hit your crazy mom with that hard truth.

When god has destroyed the wicked in the past, he has always done two things:
1. Give warning
2. Allow innocent to escape

I think Christians like this give other believers a bad name. Ask her "did God tell your friend this personally?" I just want you all to know that everyone is different...just because one Christian said something, doesn't mean we all agree like zombies. The God I know is loving and slow to anger.

My pastor said at church on Sunday "Put aside all the condemning remarks from certain Christians and let's lift up Haiti and the many people affected by the earthquake in prayer. God loves them too!!"
